Join us Wednesday the 5th in the Virtual Labs, specifically the "photo lab" room at 1pm Eastern sharp for the next online Labs workshop!!!
We will be talking all about your product photos and just how to take the types of photos that we look for when choosing items to feature in the Gift Guides and for the front page of Etsy. Brush up on your skills sooner than later by watching this video tutorial we put together on this very subject!
Don’t foget to bring your camera and something to take notes with!

WOW....I thought Etsy was for promoting handmade items not great photos. My mistake. Photographers have their own catagory here...don't they????? Sorry.....not all of us can afford expensive cameras or the software to enhance our photos.

Vintagemouse, presenting your work in a compelling way is part of running your business. The tips that the Labs ladies share and that we share here on the Storque are all about really easy and affordable ways to improve upon your photography. Many of the tools we mention are free, open-source such as GIMP or can be built DIY, such as the handmade lightbox.

Excellent idea! I've been working hard at my presentation, and I'm sure it's had an impact on sales. It also makes it nice for blogs to feature your work when you have pretty pics to show. And boy, styling a shot is harder than you think...

I have taken a few photo classes over the years. I have learned SO much with Etsy. Nicely presented, easy to understand, I found everything I missed in class. Thank you.

I have my shop set up except for uploading my photos! They are all in my Kodak Easyshare Software program, but I can't find a way to access them when I click Browse. I can only access my Windows "My Pictures" photos. How do I get my Kodak pictures imported to Windows so I can access them? HELP! I'm so frustrated! I've spent so much time getting everything else all spiffy & now I'm just sitting here in this hole!

I use Kodak Easyshare with Vista, when I send pictures to the PC it always ask me to name the picture(folder) .maybe try naming it someting simple like "today" let the pictures save,, then go to your start button on the task bar . when it pops up in the "SEARCH" bar type "today" then next,, it will search your computer for files with the tag name "today".. once it locates your folder either drag it to your desktop, or right click the folder go to properties click properties. it should display a properties window for the folder. and show you the location of the folder,, EXAMPLE C:/Windows/Desktop/Documents/Pictures/today .. you should be able to find it from there..MY EXAMPLE,would tell me it is located on my desktop in my document's there's a folder named pictures and the "today" folder is in there.. I know what your going thru once and awhile Kodak imports for me will place the pictures in a different location than I am used to. FOR ME, the direct Kodak picture folder is located like this C:/Programs/Kodak/pictures. Kodak has its own picture folder in the program and usually puts my pictures there when I can't find them, "My Computer icon" left click it (on Vista) it will display all my drives Double click the C: Drive there should be a folder named PROGRAMS.. double click it to open it and look for a folder named KODAK.. open the Kodak folder see if there is a folder in there named pictures or imports.. open those and see if your pictures are getting imported there.. Hope that helps and is not to confusing.. Ken www.RokGear.etsy.com

My beloved Olympus just gave it up after ten years so now I will have to deal with a learning curve to start over with a new camera (that sat in its box for a year while the Olympus was still kicking). Well, maybe the new one will actually take better pictures but I'd better check out the light box, etc. advice because if you've ever been to Maine, you know there is very little natural light here :-}.

Hello to my new beginnings! Bought my first digital camera the other day. A Canon PowerShot A1000IS. Can anyone please tell me if they have one too? I hope I made a good choice for presenting my pics online.

Tim, I love all your great suggestions on all three fixes, but I'm more than impressed by fix #1, without this fixed, no sucess can be attained. God Bless you for sharing your knowledge; I'm new at etsy and learning one step at a time. New Bride Co.
