Jennifer Perkins is the woman behind the blog, book, and jewelry website Naughty Secretary Club. What you probably don’t know about Jennifer is that she has a small fetish for terrariums — so much so that she dedicated an entire week on her blog to the homes for gnomes. Check out her blog to learn about the top 10 terrarium tutorials of the web, a journey back in terrarium time, how to make a wedding themed terrarium, and a terrarium shopping guide. Here’s Jennifer.
My love for terrariums began as a centerpiece. Several years ago one of my fellow Austin Craft Mafia members was getting hitched, and in true crafty style, she asked our little group to whip up the centerpieces for her wedding, in lieu of buying a gift to celebrate her nuptials. As I sat looking at my collection of vintage wedding cake toppers, it dawned on me that a wedding themed terrarium would be perfect. Terrariums are no longer just homes for gnomes: they are centerpieces, home décor, jewelry and more.

This is wonderful! I sell terrariums and really appreciated all the great articles about the craft. I bought the BlackApple Terrarium Print for my husband for our anniversary. I could not have imagined anything more perfect especially when our house has turned into one big terrarium! My husband loved it and immediately hung it up!

funny, a few of mine mine even snuck into my avatar today!!! :] I second that they're fun to do with kids, my daughter is 2 and we got our moss in the woods next to the hotel we stayed in on a family vacation, and she helped put dirt in their containers to plant them when we got home. They're a fun reminder of our mini-vacation, for both of us!

I have become SOOOOO obsessed with all things mossy & terrarium-related that I've turned the guest room into a "moss-o-rarium," planted tiny hostas in mossy-covered pots, and have started painting a bunch of miniature wooden terrariums, for people who can even kill moss :)
