Spread the word! Our pals over at Apartment Therapy are hosting a competition during February called Do It Now where they invite you to tackle one small household project: painting a bureau, rewiring your home theater, building an organizer for all your cooking spices, whatevering a whatever.
We here at Etsy are dangling some tantalizing shopping sprees as the reward. We’ll also be showing off some of the stellar entries here on the Etsy blog. We want to see you shine! And if you have friends or family members who need that extra push to get involved in this wonderful world of DIY projects and vintage and handmade goodness, now would be the time. Strike while the iron is hot and tackle those household projects with flair, because, as Apartment Therapy says, “Together we can get them all done.”

Oh fun! My husband is letting me combine his 2 kid's rooms in our tiny condo into 1 so I can take over a messy bedroom and make it into my craft studio! (we only have the kids every other weekend)

Does taking down the Christmas tree count? And does adding Valentine's decor to it make up for it? (Hey, I have four roommates, and they haven't helped yet either. ;)) If not, then probably I will count fixing my fraying wicker bookshelf (lots of the straw whathaveyous are coming up on a curve) and repainting it to hide the fix. My studio is in such a state of chaos. And come to think of it, I never finished painting those shelves for the bathroom. Oh and I'm halfway done with making that rug. We need more bookshelves. And I never finished that cross-stitch for my brother. Man, this contest is good timing!

Oh, this is just great! I miss out on being able to be in the baby shower as Autumn is now 4 months old AND I get to miss out on this one because while I was pregnant, my husband and I redid our kid's bathroom (he even sanded down, stained & poly'd all the woodwork) and we did Autumn's room. ACK! I guess that just means I need to wait to do anything until there's a contest I might be able to win. Just my luck- I never win! :)

I've redone almost my entire house during the 4 years I've owned it except....one....thing.....my 1960's kitchen cabinets! ACK! I've had a plan for them for a few years, but it's too intimidating! Sanding is about my least favorite activity, but could this contest give me the push I need?? ; )
