Guest Curator: Kingdom of Style

Kingdom of Style is a hugely popular British blog about all things fashion related. It is ruled by the inimitable Queen Michelle and Queen Marie, who share their adventures, experiences and experiments within the world of style. Kingdom of Style is filled with fashion DIY, interiors, jewels and outfits, all served with a large slice of humor.

At Kingdom of Style, we are all about looking for the odd, the off-kilter, the slightly strange. Whether we are adding drama with huge scarves and bows, combining fetishistic harnesses over floral frocks or adorning our heads with unique and wonderful headpieces, fashion for us is all about fantasy: creating another world for ourselves via the clothes we wear. We love Etsy, as anyone who reads our blog will realize, because it brings together the best of everything… you just need to know where to look.

Andromache’s Deconstruction Blanc

This dress is just fantastic. It could be worn in many different ways. We do appreciate a multifunctional garment in the Kingdom. By artlab, $240.

Cut out Muse leather mask in gold

Oh, how we wish masks were acceptable for wearing during the day! This ornately cut-out leather mask is so delicate and pretty. Alternatively, slip it on top of your head as a quirky headband. By TomBanwell, $39.

The Cage Skirt – Custom Order, any size, any colour

Angie’s cage skirts are superb. They’re an excellent way to add a bit of contrast and clash to any outfit. For example wear one of her tweed cages over a floral skirt for a perfect mis-match. By iheartnorwegianwood, $110.

SALE BABOOSHKA Harem Jodphur Leggings Black Jersey XS S M L

You either love them or hate them, but harem trousers are here to stay, and BabooshkaBoutique‘s design have a more exaggerated silhouette, making it a harem/jodhpur hybrid. Not for fashion’s wallflowers. $30.

Ethereal Light Baroque Wrap IVORY

Most of bonzie’s designs are technically bridal attire, but this is a fine example of an item which would be even more dramatic when taken out of context. It’d look great worn over a slim fitting leather jacket or a simple grey jersey dress. $69.

Shock of Hair Necklace (fancy figaro chain)

We love that all her pieces are made from found and recycled objects. This hair necklace is a bit tribal and a bit rock ‘n’ roll. What a killer combo! By rackkandruin, $48.

Black Organza Cuffs GOTHIC LADY

We never shy away from anything a bit costume-y in the Kingdom, so these neck ruffs are ideal. We would wear them with a contrasting bodycon dress or a diaphanous, short, princess style dress. By costumerenaissance, $45.

Jade

Harnesses are hot stuff right now, and armor makes beautiful delicate chain versions. If you aren’t quite ready for the full-on leather variety, then these are the perfect compromise. $140.

Mimimal Rose

Dip dye is a trend which has stayed around for a few seasons now, and this scarf is a stunning example. The designer uses a technique called “nuno” wet-felting to achieve the effect. We would clash this scarf with something dramatically graphic. By harlequinfeltworks, $200.
