We met Jenine Bressner aka Jenine at Felt Club in LA. Jenine believes that making handmade items contributes to a more sustainable way of living.
Since the Handmade Consortium launched the Buy Handmade Pledge (http://buyhandmade.org) last year, over 35,000 people have signed. Some say “handmade is the new black” — but it’s not a trend. This is about real people making changes in their everyday lives and figuring out how to make those changes lasting and sustainable. It’s about being able to quit your day job and shop local. It’s about personal history and the inspiration behind making something of your own vision.

OMG! To be put in the company of talented artisans like shannongerard and twolefthands is such an honor. I don't think my "Cissy" was in the Treasury at Storque for more than a minute. I went to bed here on the East Coast and someone on the West Coast purchased her during "my night". And I just listed her YESTERDAY. Wow,now that Etsians is the true power of the Storque!! Love this sentence, "It's about personal history and the inspiration behind making something of your own vision." This is how is feels for me for sure. The personal history part being that I am following in the tradition of my mother, grandmothers and so on. Using what we have, creating what we need and want, and enjoying doing that so much that making more to sell, to share with others is what makes creativity even more of a blessing. I always say there are those who sing and those who listen. I cannot sing but love to enjoy singing. I cannot paint but love to appreciate great art. I can, however do other things and love to share these things and hear how others appreciate them. Handmade is not only my black, but my rainbow.
