Jennifer Romolini over at Lucky Magazine’s ebay, Etsy, et al. blog is all over the Etsy fashion tip, and her recent post, “If Beavis and Butt-head Talked About Skirts,” made me literally laugh out loud (LLOL, if you will). The post was inspired by the following conversation:
V: “Why can’t I ever find skirts?”
J: “I don’t know. But skirts are cool.”
V: “Yeah, skirts are cool. It sucks that we can’t ever find skirts. Every store has tons of dresses and maybe two skirts.”
J: “I know. Dresses don’t suck, but I’d like some cool skirts. God! Where are all the skirts?!”
However, there was a happy ending to the story, as Jennifer came upon Alex & Ra’s Etsy shop and quickly came to the conclusion that Etsy is THE place for skirts — specifically, those that should be worn with wedges and pretty tanks.

All of these picks are lovely. HOWEVER, I would really like to start seeing some of the undiscovered Etsy artisans who are lost on the search pages. We see the same artists featured over and over on front page, in treasuries, etc. There is so, soooooo much more that deserves attention. I honestly think a little more digging & featuring of undiscovered artisans would be a wonderful way to illustrate that Etsy is an egalitarian marketplace. My own blog primarily showcases artists who have received very little recognition, despite offering truly superb work in their stores. Ummmm...I hate to say I am both fascinated and repulsed by the beautiful bug bracelet. I had to return and add this comment that I'm not comfortable with the idea of incorporating carcasses of living creatures in a piece of bodily ornamentation.
