Party Planners: Ice Cream Party with Food & Wine Magazine

No matter the weather, Food & Wine Associate Editor Kristin Donnelly lives for ice cream. She loves making her own, inspired by a recent F&W story on Ohio ice cream artisan Jeni Britton. But you don’t need an ice cream machine to throw an incredible sundae potluck party. Just set out a few of your favorite store-bought pints and ask each guest to bring a topping.

To add great style, look to Kristin’s favorite Etsy picks below.

Printed from a vintage block, TheAerialist’s retro-style invitations would set a sweetly old-fashioned tone for the party.

MrPS’s raspberry-sherbet-colored tea towel uncannily matches TheAerialist’s invitations and would be perfect for cleaning up ice cream drips.

I’d tie Judyscrafts‘s nostalgic tags around sundae cups or goodie bags, or use them as place cards.

You’d never guess that the wavy-edged plastic bowls from ddcreations were made by Tupperware (who knew the company was so mod?). Even kids can eat their sundaes in style with these unbreakable pieces.

Banana splits would be much more fun to eat out of BinspiredVintage’s plastic banana boats with matching spoons. The boats would also be great for setting out maraschino cherries and other fruit toppings.

Cookies or tuiles are terrific for topping sundaes or for making ice cream sandwiches. I’d arrange them on raedunn’s chunky clay plates, which have the words à la mode in the center.

I love old-fashioned ice cream soda shops with apothecary jars, like this French-labeled one from GardenAdornments. I’d set out one or two filled with ice cream cones or biscotti.

Resign’s resin spoons would be great for serving sundae toppings.

DodgeStationPottery’s wonderfully minimalist ridged white bowls could do double duty as holders for sundae toppings, like an addictive rice brittle crunch, or for scoops of ice cream.

I’d use the small vintage glass pitcher from ScottieinaCanoe for pouring fresh blueberry sauce so I could see its pretty color.
