Come Craft Faux Felt Cakes With My Candy Castle at Etsy Labs

The fireworks have faded and sunburns are peeling, but I’m pleased to be back in action this week (we missed you last week!) for another Craft Night at the Etsy Labs! My pal Kitiya from My Candy Castle will be joining us all the way from the Southern Hemisphere for an evening of creating cake-inspired felt confections — whether you’re in Brooklyn, or anywhere in the world.

Stop by for our weekly Craft Night in our online multi-user chat room, the Virtual Labs, for a live online demo at 5 p.m. ET, or in person at the Etsy Labs in Brooklyn anytime between 4-8 p.m. at 55 Washington Street, Suite 512 in Brooklyn, New York. For Craft Night on Monday, July 12,  we will be concocting delectable faux felt cakes with Kitiya from My Candy Castle. We’ll be pulling out our felt stash and all sorts of odds-and-ends to make everlasting eye candy so sweet-looking, you might be tempted to whip out a fork.

As always, Craft Night is free, and you may drop in at any point between 4-8 p.m. All supplies will be provided, though you are welcome to bring your own selection of felts or embellishments.

Kitiya Palaskas is a designer, artist, and craft enthusiast currently based in Sydney, Australia. She enjoys making things, op shopping, and show and tell. She says, “I have an obsession with kittens that verges on the insane and tend to go weak at the knees over desserts, stationery, and stripes. You can often find me behind a sewing machine, buried under piles of textas (Aussie for felt-tipped markers), stickers and fabric scraps, and/or frantically bedazzling anything in sight.” Find out more about Kit and her work here.

If you are attending Craft Night virtually this week and would like to craft along with us, you’ll need to gather the following supplies:

  • Felt
  • Stuffing 
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks, or fabric glue
  • Embellishments, such as an assortment of lace, trims, rhinestones, cabochons, and buttons 
  • Needle and thread for hand sewing
  • Instructions & pattern pieces PDF
