Etsy Success Holiday Boot Camp: Getting Started

Need a push into the holiday season? Etsy Success Holiday Boot Camp is launching this Thursday, September 23, so get your sales sleds ready, let’s help push each other up this hill together!  

Each Thursday, in the Etsy Success newsletters, I’ll send out a link to relevant Etsy Blog posts, Etsy forum threads, words of wisdom from other boot campers, downloadable checklists and helpful resources. I’ll start a weekly forum thread, where I’ll ask you all to check in and let me (and the other campers) know how you’re doing, what you need help with, and what steps you’ve taken that week. Having someone, or a group of someones, accountable for your success each week will hopefully keep us all plowing through the holiday madness. 

So, first thing’s first, this is a very serious boot camp and we’re going to need a mascot. Will it be Truman, the camouflaged English Bulldog, Punkin the no-nonsense toddler in a tu-tu, or maybe Alfreda the grumpy guinea pig? We’re going to need this mascot to cheer us on each week, so be sure to make your vote count. 

Alright, now that that’s out of the way, we can talk about The Holiday Boot Camp Pledge. If we’re going to rock this season together, we’re going to have to make a few promises to ourselves and to each other. So here it is:

I, ______________, pledge to participate in the Etsy Success Holiday Boot Camp to the best of my abilities. I vow to check in every week, do my homework and support my fellow Holiday Boot Campers. I will read the weekly newsletters and blog posts, check in on the weekly forum thread, read the weekly blog post, check off the checklists and salute the mascot. I promise to share what I’ve learned with those who need it, support my fellow Etsy indiepreneurs and, most of all, have a positive and persistent attitude. I understand that together we can spread the word about our handmade and vintage goods, making this holiday season a more unique and meaningful one to gift givers and give-ees everywhere! 

Post this pledge to your blog, Facebook, Twitter (make sure to use the hashtag #EtsyHolidayBootCamp) or even on your refrigerator!

So what can you do this week? Make sure you’ve signed up for the Etsy Success newsletter for directions. Holiday Boot Camp instructions will be delivered every Thursday, so carve out a time in your week to sit down with a pen, note pad, and your crocheted camouflage uniform! We have work to do!
