Guest Curator: Color Relations With A Merry Mishap

JennHagler_bio.jpgJenn Hagler is a wife and mother of a soon-to-be 10-month-old baby boy. She started her blog, A Merry Mishap (the same name as her Etsy shop), as a creative outlet. After having her son, she decided to stay home and turn the blog into a little bit more than just casual blurbing. She tries to share interior, fashion, food and DIY inspiration, along with personal updates from time to time. She likes to think that there’s a little something for everyone.

Let me say that I never cease to be impressed with the treasure trove of items Etsy has to offer, as well as all of its talented craftsmen and collectors. To showcase a little of this I have a combination of home decor and wearable items that I’d really like to share with you!

I enjoy seeing color relations in design. There is something satisfying to me about a collection of items that contain similar colors, but don’t look like you went on a shopping spree to furnish your home from the same store! Here, charcoal and pink are both classic, functional and easy to mix.

A little bit of neon goes a long way, and it’s the perfect element to break up otherwise boring neutrals. I’m loving the pop of colors with these modern angular shapes.

Speaking of angles, I love these painted blocks by StudioFludd that make up three different creatures. I had to include something childish because there are so many excellent toys and games for kids on Etsy! I also really love melon and cobalt blue together.

Buying vintage is a great way to give a space character. One of my favorite ways to curate a shelf or accessorize a living area is to add something from the past. German pottery is so beautiful, and I love the way it looks next to an old Kilim rug.

The soft neutrals of this hat next to the cork pencil holder are such a happy combination. Both pieces can be partnered with a variety of colors and patterns and have obviously stood the test of time — the best characteristics to spend your money on!

Something for the kitchen, you say? These cat iron egg holders are fun and Cathrineholm enamelware is equally exciting. Bold color with deep black looks so powerful together and it works both in decor and on the body!
