Guest Curator: Mother’s Day Picks with Handmade Charlotte

HC_bio.jpg

Rachel Faucett designs children’s clothes and runs Handmade Charlotte, a blog about design and vintage for children. She lives on a farm just outside of Atlanta with  her husband and their five children.

Handmade Charlotte began with a few bolts of vintage fabric and a string of late nights making clothes for my daughters Isabella and Charlotte after everyone had gone to bed. I’d been selling antiques at the markets for several years with a strong focus on children’s items and moving into clothing was a natural progression.

One of the main things I love about Etsy is the rich diversity of its community. There is something for everyone. It’s a perfect place to shop for a Mother’s Day gift, no matter what her interests may be.

For the gardener, give her a special treat like the Heirloom Cosmic Purple Carrot from azuredandelion. Or surprise her with the textured natural beauty of Comfort Garden No. 6 from floresdelsol.

For the decorator, the Jug Light from tbDsf, fabricated from a reclaimed glass laboratory jug and fitted with an Edison bulb, is a lovely gift for the home. The Single Bud Vase from cynthiavardhan brings a bold statement to a simple object with its raised patterns and beautifully pigmented translucent porcelain. The Wells Beach Huts Mounted Photographic Print by JoannaBoyes and People by Judykaufmann are also great choices for any abode.

Show your love with the Enamel Copper Heart Necklace by GretchenWalker or the wonderful Keepsake Box Ring by yellowgoat. For something softer, consider the Felted Bead Pearl Necklace by delica.

The colorful Assorted Macaron Box by littleoven is ideal for the epicurean. The Vintage Japanese Kashigata Sweets Bamboo Mold from vintagefromjapan and the Scalloped Edge Ceramic Cake Stand by whitneysmith are wonderful accessories for the kitchen.

The mom on the go will appreciate the roomy Recycled Cotton Carryall by forestbound, made from a salvaged WWII-era U.S. Navy uniform jumper. The Tangerine Wool Attache Case by sketchbook is well-suited for carrying a laptop or iPad. The Chalkboard Book by erinzam is great for quick notes or sketches and the cover can be used as a message board.
