How many of you out there are set to wed this winter? OK, now how many of you are feeling overlooked by the hype surrounding summer wedding season? Yep, I thought so!
Never fear. Winter weddings are just as important to me as summer ceremonies, and I’m here to show you that you can have FUN with your colors, too. Your winter wedding doesn’t have to be red, burgundy or an all-white wonderland. Two of my favorite wintery shades are silver (or gray, in this case) and gold. Here are a few ideas for how to throw a fresh and cool, or cozy and utterly romantic winter wedding!

Navy, a neutral that is often used for nautical summery weddings, is actually a sophisticated winter hue. Pair it with gray, white and an unexpected caramel shade for a simple and clean wintery wedding. What a great alternative to New Year’s typical black and gold, no? Warm up a sleek and sexy dress with a fun, vintage faux fur coat or a caramel-hued belt, and a little driving glove never hurt anyone! Men, grab some gray suits and pair it with one of my favorite Etsy finds… these pussywillow boutonnieres! I’d opt for sweet and simple bouquets instead of the elaborate, cascading ones usually dubbed as winter appropriate.

The best part about using a caramel shade in your wedding is that you pretty much have to provide yummy caramels for favors! If you’re not the flower sort (a.k.a. perfect for a winter wedding), replace floral centerpieces with lots and lots of candles. Splurge on a few of these knitwear-inspired vessels for an intimate reception, or use birch wood as a base for a little flair. If DIY is in your vocabulary, collect a bunch of figurines and spray paint them all white, then hand paint navy numbers on them. Doilies made a comeback this year, and whether you use them as faux chargers or stitch them together to make table runners, they bring a touch of femininity to an otherwise modern and sleek reception.

If blush and gold are calling your name, perhaps add a little chocolate brown to make this palette appropriate for the cooler months. I have been obsessed with this Ouma dress for as long as I can remember and you can easily winterize it with a knit shawl. Something this romantic calls for a brooch bouquet, too. These knit gloves make adorable bridesmaid gifts that double as fun bridal party photo props. And as you can see, no little girl would deny a flower girl dress like this one from Caricias!

Since this palette can err on the autumn side, a pine cone motif can be a fun way to transition it into those later months. Try pine cones for place cards tied with gold charms (perfect for informing guests of their table numbers). Why not wrap vases in pretty pink lace and string these paper pine cones together for festive garlands? Luckily, you can add twinkly lights to pretty much anything and everything you want if your winter wedding is around the holidays! OK, maybe not everything — but you know what I mean. When I think of how I’d spend any romantic evening in the winter, it would probably involve a cup of hot chocolate. So, go nuts and have a whole hot chocolate bar at your affair. Give your guests personalized mugs for favors and then provide the hot chocolate (and coffee, too, if you’d like) with all sorts of mixin’s and flavorings, like cinnamon and marshmallows, of course. Maybe some macarons and donuts on the side… yep, your guests are gonna love you!

These are really beautiful finds! We attended our nephew's wedding last New Year's Eve at Sunriver Resort in Oregon and the building was beautifully constructed with a rustic wood design. The main decor was centered on candlelight as you can see in this link from their site. http://www.sunriver-resort.com/central-oregon-wedding-venues.php With the snow covered ground outside and the gigantic mantel covered with sparkling candles it was truly magical!

My husband and I just got married the weekend before Christmas. At times while we were planning I was really sad that our wedding was starting to outshine the holidays but looking back I will always be glad we did it that way. I chose blue and silver for our colors. We really went the whole winter way at the reception. The centerpieces were vases or bowls full of Clementine oranges with pine branches as the table runners. (My in-laws bought an extra Christmas tree to cut up for the tables). We also you pine cones that we scented with cinnamon and cloves. We also had hot drinks and a Christmas candy bar to go along with our food. It was a great low key affair to help usher in the holidays! Also I loved that by the time we got to the reception several tables had already dug into their oranges. Our centerpieces also made it to several holiday tables for a second life!
