Howdy! I’m Polly, a.k.a. pollyannacowgirl, and I’m the editor of ReadyMade‘s new craft blog, Make Nice. I’m so excited to be able to share some of my favorite earth-friendly tutorials with Etsians just before Earth Day! There are so many ways to make creative reuse a part of your crafting life. Sometimes it can be as easy as re-shuffling your supply stash to get a new view of what’s right in front of you. I use this tactic when I’m tempted to buy ten new balls of yarn when I know there’s an overflowing basketful waiting at home. A bunch of the projects below also feature recycled or reclaimed materials that folks may already have or can easily find at a local thrift store — so they’re not only environmentally conscious, but they’re budget-friendly, too. It feels great to transform a bit of junk into something useful, lovable, or just plain cool. Hopefully you’ll find some inspiration today!
Stop by Make Nice for more eco-friendly projects and features all this week; I’d love to see you there!

I love eco-friendly stuff, but hate the high cost. :( Recycled/upcycled items are often 2x their normal items. This sort of system makes eco-friendly unreachable by many people, which is just sad.

I love how the slide lamp uses LED lights so they're not too hot. Lots of light projects that I've seen, surprisingly don't take this into consideration. Too bad I never bought LED Christmas lights at Christmastime. Wonder if those push button LED lights would work...I don't see why not. Those things are really bright!

Fantastic article! I would just like to point out though if you're going to do the acorn necklace tutorial (as gorgeous as it is), one should advise using vintage crochet thread, or at least an alternative to cotton. Cotton is anything but eco-friendly!

One of the most energy-efficient lights you can get are LED lights. The most popular application is probably for under cabinet lighting. They add such great functionality and ambiance to a kitchen. Prices are coming down for LED technology so hopefully we will all have Eco-friendly kitchens soon. Eco friendly Lighting

Well, I find this to be pretty ridiculous! To make a treasury, go to ETSY Home and click on explore....THERE IS NO EXPLORE!!! If you need help go to the end of this article and clock FAQ...THERE IS NO FAQ!!!!! Who writes this stuff, anyway? I want to have a treasury but evey article I read sends me in circles. I tried to make a treasury by clicking the make a treasury list button. I saved it but now I can't find it. Its no wonder I haven's sold anything, yet. Frankly, I've just about given up. I think I'll let my listings expire. My things are beautiful but if you aren't one of the chosen few to get spotlighted on ETSY, seelling is pretty much hopeless.
