Colloquially, the word “green” is as complex as the color can be itself: it represents envy and the healthy-heart chakra alike, acidic and sweet by turns, inexperience and growth simultaneously. If it can be boiled down to any one thing, perhaps green would be, simply, life. And maybe that’s why we yearn for it every spring, revel in it all summer, and bring it inside when the seasons change. A constant reminder of freshness and serenity, green offers us an instant connection to our natural environment — undoubtedly why it’s the token color of the eco-friendly movement.
With three green-hued color palettes from COLOURlovers as inspiration, these Etsy picks reflect just a handful of the moods the colors evoke.
Every time I look at “jet screamer,” I’m reminded of the early-morning sky in an old, faded photograph. I can imagine a whole morning routine: a refreshing shower with Hartleysoap‘s Bamboo Zen Soap, a pretty vintage dress paired with LavenderField‘s sweet-and-tough Crochet Statement Necklace and a cup of hot tea — green, of course — in one of the seafoam-colored mugs from prettyfarmprimitive‘s Vintage Cup Set.

Greens are my absolute favorite! I read in a color/design book that there are more possible shades of green than of any other color. I like that it's a color of balance, perfectly poised between warm and cool on the color palette (like purple!) For me, green represents earthly balance (of life, of the physical, the material) and purple represents spiritual balance (the topmost chakra, emotional wellness, the ethereal). I experienced a severe "green-overdose" during the 90s and I haven't really felt much for the colour since. But... over the last 6-12 months I've noticed that my eyes are "searching " for the green palette and that I'm actually choosing green over other colours. "Jet Screamer" is fantastic! People just don't realize how complex a color is green and that green spans the spectrum of color nuance. Any painter will tell you green is one of the hardest colors to nail but when you do, there is nothing finer nor more rewarding. I think all that is the color green is greatly under appreciated.

There is almost no color I don't like, and of course every color fits in someplace. My favorites tend to run from teals through blues through purples into pinks. And yes, the hot colors too: yellow, orange, red, magenta. I guess my least favorite is dark yellow green. So, I'm not really a green person. It was my mother's favorite color, she always wore it (green eyes) so perhaps the reason is Freudian!
