“When the Creative Connections Conference was first publicized, I immediately called my college roommate, an artist living in Minnesota. We talked about the possibility of attending the conference together since we both just started small at-home businesses this past year, me with The Artists’ House and her with HT Designs 4U. Oh, we were so hopeful! Money has been tight though, and as much as I wanted to attend the conference and see Heather, I didn’t know if it was going to be possible. This past Saturday, my email was buzzing like crazy. All these people were suddenly following me on Twitter. I knew something was up. I logged in and when I saw that tweet from Etsy, saying that I was the winner, well I just couldn’t believe it. I immediately called Heather. We both were tickled, acting like college freshman again, giddy on the phone. It’s funny, how this conference and this awesome giveaway is helping two college roommates, creative in spirit, reconnect for the first time in five years. Heather is looking into registering for the conference as we speak.”

We are partnering with our friends at the Creative Connection to offer a free trip to The Creative Connection conference. This three-day conference, crafting extravaganza and shopping emporium will be an incredible opportunity for creative women and female entrepreneurs to meet up and share practical information and inspiration. It will be held September 16-20, 2010, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Minneapolis, MN. To win the trip, all you need to tell us is:
What is your creative connection? We really want to know! Tell us what person, event, or moment started you on your creative path. Was it your grandmother, parent, sibling or friend? Was it something you received as a gift or saw at a craft fair? Was it a “eureka” moment that came out of nowhere?
How the contest works:
- On Twitter you must answer the question “What is your creative connection?” in 140 characters or less — including Etsy and Creative Connection hash tags #etsy and #cc.
- Enter between Monday, June 7, 2010 at 12 p.m. ET and Friday, June 11, 2010 at 5 p.m. ET.
- Winner will be randomly selected from entries and announced on Etsy’s Twitter and Blog on Friday, June 11, 2010.
- This contest is limited to U.S. participants only — sorry, international folks!

More about the conference and what you will win:
Some of the most creative women in the industry will be at the Creative Connection, including Amy Butler, Vickie Howell, Crafty Chica, Cathie Fillian, Heather Bailey, Kaari Meng, and Jenni Bowlin. You’ll be invited to participate in their panels and take their classes. You will be entitled to three 3-hour workshop/classes (over 40 to choose from), attend panels and seminars on tech, social media, and business best practices, participate in swaps, and shop the juried HandMade Market of women-owned vendors.
Best of all, you will be able to connect and network with other people who share your passion for creativity and handmade arts. Etsy is a Platinum sponsor of The Creative Connectiom and will be at the event participating in a panel, hosting a “smart bar,” and facilitating meet ups.
