As Hue Like It With Miss Moss

Diana is a graphic designer from South Africa who curates and shares her love for visual treasures over at her blog, Miss Moss. She spends far too much time making collages in Photoshop, has a penchant for nice cheese and good beer, loves sharing music mixes, regularly dreams up fantasy outfits she can’t afford and occasionally posts pictures of cute cats.

I have a terribly obsessive Internetting habit. When I’m not making my way through 1000+ unread items in my RSS reader, I’m browsing Flickr, Svpply and (more recently) Etsy. I recently joined Pinterest, after months of resisting, and started sorting my many thousands of favourites from around the web into colour-themed mood boards. This happened quite naturally, as I like seeing things sorted by hue…sometimes I wish I could order my entire life that way. These picks are inspired by some of my favourite mood boards — SherbertLushBrown and Monochrome.

Sherbert

[1. Leather passport case from wanderwondering; 2. Pink Fitz & Floyd cup and saucers from modish vintage; 3. Dip-dyed sweater from goodnightdayshop; 4. Parkway 3 print from MarcoSuarez; 5. Vintage high waisted midi skirt from Ampris Loves; 6. Rooibos tea soap from Rocky Top Soap Shop; Two barn owls archival print from unitedthread]

1. This will come in handy when I’m a full-time traveller.
2. The colour of these reminds me of bathrooms from the ’70s. In a good way.
3. I have so much love for Tara-Lynn’s hand knitted creations.
4. What heaven looks like, probably.
5. What all girls want to wear right now, whether you’re going into spring or autumn.
6. As a South African, I have a natural attraction to anything made with Rooibos.
7. Why aren’t there pink and purple owls in real life?

Lush

[1. Colour passage poster from treefox; 2. Wood + moss ring planter from Mr. Lentz; 3. Great outdoors backpack from sketchbook; 4. Woodland print from watersounds; 5. Sedum Yellow moss from Foundation Design; 6. Tree snake print from Becca Stadtlander; 7. Army green zipper top from thefutureoffrances

1. I love all of Erin’s prints, but this one is a particular favourite.
2. My last name is Moss…so this ring makes a lot of sense to me.
3. Perfect for trekking into the woods, and the perfect green too.
4. These are the woods I want to trek into with said backpack.
5. Succulents are the only plants I can’t kill. As the shop owner so delicately puts it, perfect for those with “black thumbs.”
6. I would fill my walls with Becca’s art if I could.
7. Such a simple and sexy top.

Brown

[1. Southwest sunset stitched desert shoes from clever nettle; 2. Peter Pan blouse from janeyclothing; 3. Raska by Arabia of Finland espresso cups from go go berlinette; 4. Hand-stitched brown leather bag from hiddengem09; 5. Southwestern segmented bowl from mdartisanguild; 6. Reclaimed Douglas Fir and recycled Iron Steel chair from Blake Avenue; 7. Bleached arrow knit top from backyardsk

1. If these shoes were in my size, they would be sold already.
2. I absolutely love this blouse, but it’s such a beautiful photo too. Her hair!
3. I actually have an entire set of the exact same brown Raska tableware that I inherited from my mom. These are perfect for your morning coffee.
4. Has to be the most beautiful bag I have seen in a long time. No studs, no zips, no pockets — just beautiful brown leather.
5. An amazingly crafted wooden bowl I’d love to have perched on a table in my house.
6. Perhaps not super comfortable to sit upon, but it sure looks good.
7. This is what I’d wear when I’m trekking into the forest with my green backpack.

Monochrome

[1. Night Sky Stoneware bowl from LeiliDesign; 2. Rope Knot Bracelet from GoldHearted; 3. Little monogramed notes from In Haus Press; 4. Dear Darkness Print from leahgoren; 5. Dollybird temple necklace from dollybirddesign; 6. UFO zine from treeswithknees; 7. Black Leather Heirloom Tote from rib & hull

1. Too pretty to fill with anything.
2. Somehow managing to be chunky and delicate at the same time.
3. I can never find a gift tag when I need one — these would be handy to have around.
4. This would look perfect in a white frame, on a black wall.
5. I’m on board with any black jewellery.
6. You really don’t believe in UFO’s? Well, you should read this zine then.
7. I can never resist a quality black leather tote.
