In honor of Earth Day, upcycling junkie Tiffany Threadgould, founder of RePlayGround, head of design at Terracycle, and author of ReMakeIt!, will be joining us for an evening of turning trash to treasure. For this Craft Night, we will be making bracelets from soda can tabs. Demos will be held online at 3:30 p.m. and in-person demos will be held at at 4:15, 5:15, 6:15, and 7:15. Please arrive prior to the start of one of these demos.
In this project you’ll give your trash a makeover by turning old soda can pull tabs into a silvery bracelet. Please bring 22 soda can pull tabs and needle-nose pliers, if possible, to get going. We’ll provide the stretchy elastic and the instructions for creation.
This is a great way to turn your trash into fashion and to show off your upcycled style. And best of all, you’ll make it yourself. Once you make the bracelet, you can use the same weaving technique to create a belt or other accessories. If you’d like to make more soda tab accessories, do bring extra tabs. My book, ReMake It!, is filled with 95 awesome recycled projects from the stuff you usually scrap. The bracelet is only the beginning. After you start “remaking it,” you’ll never look at trash the same way again.

The nitty gritty in a nutshell:
Where: 55 Washington Street, Suite 712 (7th floor) Brooklyn, New York, 11201
When: Monday, April 18. Demos will be held at 4:15, 5:15, 6:15, and 7:15 p.m.
RSVP here. (Space is limited!)
Webcast: For those of you who can’t make it in person, we’ll be doing a live demo via Livestream at 3:30 p.m. ET. You can check out the feed right on the Etsy Community page.
Score your own copy of ReMake It! right here on Etsy, or from Tiffany at Craft Night.

This is great! The belt in the picture actually looks like Cambodian belts made of silver. I should try and make them myself instead of flying all the way across the world to buy them.

My Dad actually made a vest out of pull tabs when I was young. Back when the tab was still attached to the "tongue" of metal that covered the hole. He just looped the attached flap of tin around the loop of metal next to it and kept going. I thought nothing of it except it was weird. He was always making things out of strange objects but he made some nice furniture too! Funny you don't appreciate that kind of creativity when you're young.
