On Monday evening March 7, 2011, Etsy will be hosting the first ever Craft Night in the Netherlands. Our hosting partner for this event is the Waag Society, a media lab in Amsterdam. Founded in 1994, the Waag Society aims for social and cultural innovation through research as well as developing projects, pilots and prototypes using creative technology. As an internationally known institute and one of the largest media labs in the world, we are honored that the Waag Society is willing to co-organize this first Craft Night in the Netherlands in their Fablab.
For this special occasion we chose a theme that fits both Etsy and Fablab: we’ll be experimenting with material cutting by hand and machine. Machine cutting will be supervised by the Fablab crew and crafting with traditional tools [hint: scissors!] will be led by our own Anda and the new Dutch community manager, Marta Pakovska.
We’ll be making jewelry, gadget sleeves and other laser cut or hand cut products. If you’ll be in or near Amsterdam next Monday, please join us!
Where: Nieuwmarkt 4, Waag Society Fablab Amsterdam, The Netherlands
When: Monday 7 March, 19:00 (Amsterdam time)
