Etsy has a new and exciting feature that allows you to connect your Facebook Page and Twitter account to your Etsy shop. This is a great way to let shoppers know about your presence on these sites so they can keep up with your shop!
A Facebook Page offers a rich opportunity to connect with your customers. You can provide news about your shop, share inspiration and process photos, and offer promotions. If you don’t have a Facebook Page yet, but would like to create one, this tutorial will show you how!
Get started: You’ll first need to already have a Facebook account to have a Page, so sign up if you don’t have an account. Then, go here to create a page and follow the prompts. I’ve seen sellers use either the option to register as a company or as a brand — it’s up to you!
Steps 1 and 2: Next, upload an image to represent your shop. An interesting item from your shop is a great choice for your avatar! On the next page, uncheck the options to share and like this page. This will allow you to make any changes before making your page highly visible. You can do these things later once you have made sure your page is the way you want it.
Step 3: Provide a link to your Etsy shop, and give some information about your business! If you have writer’s block, try looking in your Etsy Profile for inspiration, or reading this post about writing an engaging profile for tips.
Next steps: Okay, now your page is set up! Check out the ideas under Get Started, which is the next page that you are taken to. You can start adding content, promoting your page, and more!
Questions? Please see Facebook’s Page help section, and ask for advice from sellers in the Etsy Success forum or the Business Topics forum. Be sure to read Etsy’s Guide to Facebook to hear how other sellers socialize responsibly and effectively. Good luck with your new Page!

As an added tip, I see a lot of people say they can't figure out how to get back to their fan page after creating it (FB doesn't make this the most user-friendly, huh?). I found that on my facebook home page there's a small toolbar on the bottom left side, and just next to where it says "Applications" there is an "f" icon. When you hover over it says "Ads and Pages." If you click on that "f" it'll take you to your fan page homepage.

I built mine barely two weeks ago, and it was super quick. It didn't take me more than 30 mins: If you already have photos of your items you just upload them and add links to your blog and shops. ccstar says:
i have a love/hate relationship with facebook Pages. They really don't make it easy to navigate! I tried the MyStuff app, which by the way is a great workaround for the fact that the Etsy Shop app doesn't seem to work on Pages (only profiles), but it's really buggy! I can't get it to work, and it keeps prompting me to add it to my profile, when I just want to add stuff to the box. They say it's a temporary problem. One thing to clarify in your tutorial is that the code you're adding to the MyStuff box is the code for your Etsy Mini widget from your Etsy store, which you can get by clicking on "Etsy Mini" under "Promote." Haven't been able to add it, I'm wondering if it matters which size mini you choose. Anybody tried a Trunkt widget yet? I also had an issue with the Links app on my Page. I would tell you how I fixed it, but I'm not sure how I did it. I recommend adding the "Reviews" app to your page to let fans post reviews of your work. I also recommend becoming a fan of other pages, especially other crafty business pages, friends and such. It increases your possible hits if they fan you back. And through the Boxes app, you can decide to put some of this content onto your Wall so people can see it when they first get to your Page. (If you have any questions or comments, convo me because I seldom check up on forum posts.)

artbysusmitha says:
Hi everyone, thank you all for your kind comments. It's really good to know that this article has helped so many of you. Also, thanks to those of you who have shared additional tips above :) Sorry for the delayed response from my side. I knew when the tutorial was mentioned in the Etsy Success Newsletter but I wasn't aware of when it was published here at The Storque until now. People have been contacting me with questions through my blog http://cutelittlepackage.blogspot.com (where the article was originally posted) and through the etsy convo system on both my stores so I just kept answering them there. Most of the questions have already been answered by others above. I'll answer the remaining ones to the best of my ability... KilnGoddess, when you do a search on facebook and find the My Stuff app, it isn't enough to just add it to your favorites. You need to follow the steps to add it to your page. Here's the link to the app page: http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?sid=d3c801f7bb316b8ccb8b6e5759a09af9&id=2352149512&ref=search You'll find the "Add to my Page" (not "Add to my Page's Favorites"!) link. Just click on it and follow the instructions. SarahPadgham, since you shared the link to your page and we can see it, I assume you figured out how to publish it after all :) And the only way you can link your fan page to your personal page is by copy-pasting the link into your profile. If anyone has any further questions please take a look at the comments on my original blog post first (many common questions have been asked and answered there) and if you don't find an answer, please leave a comment there and I'll get back to you as soon as possible. http://cutelittlepackage.blogspot.com/2009/04/creating-facebook-fan-page.html

Hi I've managed to do this after several false starts, but I would like to know how to find other crafters in fan pages. HI EVERYONE, We would like to have a fan page to and we were doing some research first... We read that a business should not have a "personal page", just a "fan page". Here, it seems that ARTBYSUSMITHA had a personal page first and then ADDED a fan page for her business. I read that many knowledgeable facebook people recommend NOT to have a personal a page but JUST A FAN PAGE FOR BUSINESS!. Any comments on that, please???. We are thinking of going for the FAN PAGE, no personal page at all. Would that be ok?. What do you think guys?. Looking forward to listen to your comments. PeruArtCollective.

I tried facebook twice. It was so viral I quit in the first 5 minutes. Do I want a friend? No, I want a buyer. You were kind to post the tutorial but I get very confused, and it just seemed exhausting. I got a twitter page, but that seems silly too. Is the facebook page just to re-list your items? Wouldn't it be easier to hook your shop to a search engine?

Thanks for the article. I used something similar (can't remember who wrote it) to set up a Facebook page a while back. I started the page for my business because I'm trying to do the social networking thing but have encountered some limitations on it for which I can find no explanation. I don't have personal profile and don't really want one BUT is this what is limiting what I can and can't do on Facebook? 1) If I go to someone's page I see the 'like' button at the very top. I select the 'like' button which then prompts me to sign in. Once I sign in the 'like' button disappears!!! Even if I sign in first and go to someone's page the 'like' button is no longer there. WHY? And what do I have to do to change this so I can 'like' pages? 2) When I see other people (with pages) leave comments on their (or other) Facebook pages their profile picture always appears next to their comment but when I leave a comment it only ever shows the blank silhouette image from my admin. WHY? And what do I have to do to show my profile picture when I comment on pages? 3) All too often when I try to do something basic on Facebook, I'm usually directed to sign in first (obviously) but if coming at it via a link after I sign in a dialogue box appears telling me I don't have access (or something to that effect). WHY? Again is this because I don't have a personal profile? If I do go down the path of having a personal profile will it allow more functionality on my page? Will it cause confusion or is it straight forward and easy to keep the two separate? Keeping in mind I only really want to use Facebook for my business and not for personal use. Sorry for the long comment but I thought maybe someone might be kind enough to help but also it might make good subject matter for other tutorials, if by chance other people encounter the same problems as I have.

I am also wondering, are we supposed to set up a brand new FB account and then add a page to our to make our Etsy shop? Is it ok to link our personal FB page with our Etsy shop on FB page? Now when I go to Delete my FB page for my Etsy shop it says Deleting a Page is permanent. @Darlyndax - your LIKE button is there (also not sure how to add a like button do you put the facebook URL with your etsy name or your ETSY shop name?) Help!!!!!!!!!!! I"m techno challenged myself!!! Once you delete a Page, you will not be able to get it back. I guess if it doesn't work in my favor I will have to delete the Etsy Page on FB & start all over with a new FB account and might have to use my ETSY Shop address as my FB Page name.........in order to seperate it from my personal FB page...........not sure. I hope someone comments on my posts b/c I don't know if what i'm doing is ok & i've emailed etsy cus support several times this week already about other stuff!

SassyStylin: I don't know what I'm doing either. They are seriously lacking in clear instructions! Having huge problems. Nothing makes sense. Couldn't somebody come up with an understandable tutorial? Step-by-step for us techno-phobes? OMG, NEVER thought of myself as a techno-phobe, but this is whipping my A**! - - - - Yes. I'm extremely frustrated. I am deleting my Etsy FB page from my personal FB account. And starting over as a separate entity. I, also, do not want my personal page connected to my Shop page.

I agree, these instructions didn't help me either. I'm so totally lost. when trying to set up a FB page none of what is described above is what I ran into and she doesn't mention things like a cover photo or admin page. I didn't see any place where I could , uncheck the options to share and like this page.

I set up my FB page a while ago, but it took me forever to figure out how to have a link to my etsy shop on it. Sure wish the technology was more intuitive! https://www.facebook.com/VintageHand

My business on etsy is custom printable invitations right now. Not sure if I should put it as a local business, company or type or company or as a product/service. It might branch into doing more graphic design services later. Just thinking too much on the category part...what should I do??? lol
