Tell us a bit about yourself.
My name is Kasey and I’m the creator of KcSoapsNmore. I live in Clarksville, Tennessee with my husband of almost 9 years and our two little girls. I am a Northern girl at heart, born and raised right on Lake Michigan. A lot of my inspiration comes from my memories of growing up there: wineries, markets, and of course the beach. I really miss it in the summer months — but I do not miss the snow and cold!
Apart from creating things, what do you do?
Since being a stay-at-home mom takes up most of my time, when I am not making soap I am spending time with my family. I love watching movies, playing board games and just playing outside with my little girls.
Where does your inspiration come from?
Most of my inspiration comes from other artists or just simple life experiences. I try to tell a story behind most of my soaps. My best selling soap is my Human Heart Set. I was inspired to do those because of my love of anatomy. My French Macarons were created after looking at some wonderful photos on Flickr. Just open your eyes and look around, inspiration is everywhere.
When did you know you were an artist?
I have always been an artist since I can remember. My mom likes to remind me that I drew on her walls and windows constantly as a little girl. I actually went to Ball State University to study studio drawing and soon found out that that wasn’t my true passion. I really enjoy making things with my hands. I did learn a lot though, which has helped me in taking great photos and with my overall designs.
How would you describe your creative process?
Pretty crazy and hectic. I never imagined my shop being so popular. Because being a mom is my first job, I work whenever I get the chance. I work in the car cutting ribbon and fill out customs forms while I wait for my daughter to get out of school. I usually get a lot of my work done in the evenings and weekends when my wonderful husband can take the girls outside to play.
If you could peek inside the studio of any artist, designer or craftsman (dead or alive), who would it be?
Pablo Picasso. I love Abstract art and he is my favorite.
What handmade possession do you most cherish?
My drawings that I had framed that I drew at Ball State and in high school. I don’t really draw pictures anymore so those are very special to me.
How do you get out of your creative ruts?
I have been lucky enough not to have enough time to be in a rut! But I do have several notebooks with ideas that I have had over the last couple years. So I just look through those from time to time for ideas.
Where would you like to be in ten years?
Happy, healthy, and living my life with my wonderful family. Oh and my own work studio. Working out of the kitchen, bedroom and upstairs is becoming a real pain. It would be wonderful to have everything in one spot.

Congrats, looks like lots of exciting things ahead for you. All your soaps are so creative. I started out making similar type soaps, before finding my true passion in jewelry. I have an idea you might consider for a soap design. I used to use pie tins and layer soap in, then cut in pie shaped wedges. opaque vanilla soap makes a great crust, lemon merange or raspberry was my favorite filling, and merange or a second crust on top. The slices are amazingly life like, and would seem to fit in well with your theme. Wishing lots more awesome success to you.....
