One of the special things about Etsy is its passionate community of creative entrepreneurs. Our community has rallied around the Hello Etsy Small Business Conference with the same drive and support that they use to run their businesses, and it is truly inspiring to see communities around the globe engaged in conversation about micro-economies and small business.
If you’re not near one of the main Hello Etsy conferences, start your own gathering! Here are a few of the DIY Summits being hosted around the globe.

San Francisco, California
The San Francisco, California Techshop will be hosting workshops on Sunday September 18, including one called “Stories from the Front: Etsy & Small Businesses Created at TechShop.” Learn from the folks who started their creative business at TechShop! Ithaca, NY
Join Local First Ithaca, Down Town Ithaca, GreenStar Cooperative Market and our Ithaca Localistas Etsy Team on September 18, 2011 as they host a day of workshops and livestream content from Berlin. RSVP here.
If you can’t make a DIY Summit in your area, be sure to tune in LIVE in our Online Labs. You can watch from anywhere in the world! Use this handy timezone conversion tool to find what the Eastern Standard Timezone converts to for your region. Be sure to RSVP for each event so you receive an email reminder to tune in. I don't think many people that have posted quite understand. If you want to have a Hello Etsy gathering in your town... and there's not one organised already... ORGANISE ONE YOURSELF!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Or get a bunch of your friends to help you organise one. Or collaborate with a local arts / crafty group to organise one. Or suggest to a local arts / crafty group that THEY organise one. Get active people! If nothing is happening in your town - you are part of the reason it is not happening. Don't be sad about it. Do something about it. Make it happen.

I love this idea. I will get right on it. Organizing is my thing! I heard about Tech Shop second hand but now I will be looking into that also. If you want something done, DO IT YOURSELF. Do it yourself doesn't just mean fixing your house, your garden or yard. it means get out there and do it. I do ideas. I want to teach people what I know so they can do it themselves. The whole country needs to learn how to do it themselves. All they need to get started is a place to learn. This economy is the perfect environment for this kind of movement. I retired in 2008 and I have been so busy. I still take time to care for myself. Still this economy has me thinking about the spread of ideas, the spread of free knowledge and how to make these things work together. I knew I loved ETSY for a reason. I think I've got it now. Thanks. Pat in Greater Milwaukee Area.

Hi! No one has mentioned that Techshop is doing HelloEtsy on Sunday the 18th from 10am-6pm at all locations. The Bay Area Book Artists will be at the Menlo Park and San Jose locations to demonstrate making books. You can make a book and take it home with you! The San Jose Techshop will also have printing demonstrations on a Multigraph printing press. This ain't your Grandma's platen press! Come check out this cool small press. I hope you can join us!
