She lives in Abilene, Texas with her husband Kenny, their daughter Marissa and the family dog, Sweet Pea. Our look is a colorful hodgepodge with lots of art and vintage. We’re not purists, as far as style goes, but we enjoy using what is interesting to us, regardless of its provenance or age.

Did you decide to decorate in this style or was there an evolution to your decorating process?
This has definitely been an evolutionary process. I’m not much of a planner — I just hope that what I love will somehow work together. Most of my decorating decisions are the result of “cleanorating.” This is when I start out to clean the house, get distracted, and end up rearranging things. Budget, comfort, and art we’ve collected have shaped our home.

What inspires you when it comes to decorating?
My collection of colorful vintage textiles, glass and ceramics are a major influence. I’m obsessed with the textiles of 1960s and 1970s clothing. One of my personal design heroes is Vera Neumann; I want to recreate the vibrant energy her scarves exude. Ethnic fabrics such as Mexican serapes and the poncho I use as a tablecloth have definitely influenced color schemes. I am also deeply inspired by a love for my husband’s paintings, many of which are black and white. They punctuate the riots of color throughout our home.

What is your favorite part about your home?
The best place to hang out is our glassed-in sun porch, which we turned into an art studio. It’s a bit crowded, but we even eat breakfast and lunch there just so we can stare out the windows.
