Gifts for the Mysterious Man

Etsy.com handmade and vintage goods

One half of the Canadian design blog Poppytalk, Jan is constantly on the lookout for the latest and greatest in handmade and design. Jan loves collecting inspiration and is dedicated to promoting emerging design talent on her blog and online curated marketplace/exhibition site, Poppytalk Handmade, that she shares with her husband and business partner Earl. She also writes daily for Babble.com in their Family Style section and monthly at IKEA’s home and ideas website, Ikea Family Live.

There’s always been a bit of a stereotype around buying gifts for men, and I don’t really know where it comes from. I think men are super-easy to buy for — they usually have the coolest hobbies to draw from (like guitars or bikes) and are way easier to please. I actually find women harder to buy for and prefer shopping for men.

I subscribe to the Etsy Dudes newsletter and love checking out the finds there each week. (Whoever creates that newsletter does an amazing job!) I was super-psyched when I was asked to do a gift guide for men and had a lot of fun hunting down gifts for this mysterious species. I hope you’ll find the gifts to be helpful and maybe even surprising. Check it all out below, and a huge thanks to the Etsy folks for having me!
