bio_amy_allthemountains.jpgAmy Borrell is a freelance illustrator and designer, living in Melbourne, Australia. She spends her days working in a little studio making bits and pieces for all kinds of interesting and lovely clients, while also pursuing her own personal projects (and drinking lots of tea!). all the mountains features talented creatives and their work across fashion, design, craft, art and anything else that catches her eye.

As far back as I can remember I have always loved objects with character, history and stories to tell. The objects I’ve selected below are a bit of an assortment, but all share a similar air of simplicity, texture, narrative and the handmade touch.

I love jewellery that is a little bit quirky and unusual. Here are a few pieces I think are especially lovely: a delicate silver plait bracelet by Verena Schreppel, a Brazilian quartz necklace dipped in silver by solis jewelry, a vintage illustration of an owl on reclaimed wood, and Touch the Dutch’s axe silhouette made from wood offcuts.

This wonderful satchel by Americanadrygoods is modelled after the old mailbags of the USPS. It’s hand sewn and complete with copper rivets.

The hand knitted aran armchair slip cover by Biscuit Scout has to be one of the most fantastic items I have stumbled across on Etsy and it can be custom made to fit any chair you own! Mexchic’s undyed and untreated wool blankets are also lovely with their simple and cosy designs.

My kitchen is overflowing with silly ceramics and I would love to add these to the collection. Heidiburton’s illustrated porcelain egg cups with felt hats are super cute, as is the Postcup from bailey doesn’t bark, which you can personalise with your own written message.

Here are a few pretty items to decorate the house. Treefox’s large format shore poster is both simple and striking, perfect wall-filling material. Two Art Directors is a fantastic Etsy shop, full to the brim with quality antique items scavenged on weekends. I think The Oak LeavesShelf City would look very sweet dotted about the house too.

And lastly, a moon chart by AGC916. I have a similar image of the moon hanging in my studio and it constantly reminds me to set my sights high.
