Handmade Code is our series highlighting cool new apps to come out of our Developer Community. In this article, Ashley from Checklet talks about their new app, Metricorn.
We heard from so many Etsy sellers that you desired more of an understanding of how your Etsy shop performs over the course of the year, more ways to visualize your data (not just see numbers, but see pictures too), and help from us on how to maximize your craft business — that we couldn’t ignore you any longer. We had to create Metricorn.
Metricorn is a visual dashboard that allows you to easily view all of your Etsy sales, expenses, and shipping data in one place. It’s super easy and intuitive to use. All of your sales and expenses are automatically imported when you log in and are updated every five minutes. You can also add as many Etsy shops to your account as you like.
Metricorn makes doing your taxes easy-peasy, since you can see all of your sales grouped by country and by U.S. state. Within a few minutes you can see graphs of your sales or expenses for the month, quarter, or year of your choice.
702 people are currently using Metricorn. You can join them at metricorn.com. A one-year subscription costs $15 (if you already have a current subscription to our app, TaxTime, then Metricorn is free). For tips on how to maximize your craft business, check out our new blog, Lean Crafting.
People have already started tweeting about our site — here are two of our favorites:
- @Metricorn HO LEE COW! I’m thrilled with your site — it will save me HOURS each month! — Bohobear
- Holy crap you guys, checking out @checkletapp’s new baby…Metricorn is going to make all our dreams come true! Not those dreams, gross. — Longwinterfarm
If you have any problems, or come across any bugs, we would love to hear from you. You can contact us via Live Chat on our site. You should be able to get Katrina or Eric to help you almost immediately. If they are unavailable, you can leave an email message and they will get back to you stat!

What great news! I was worried about doing taxes with my internet store. You know what else would be nice? If we could have a song play at our shop home pages.

I particularly like the fact that you can see the sales by state. It will make my sales tax filing so easy.

Wanted to mention to you all that Metricorn now imports your PayPal fees, so even less expenses to hand-enter! And you can add external expenses as well, such as that purchase you made at the fabric store, or supplies purchased on Etsy. Let us know if you'd like to see additional features, we're all ears. :) Eric @ Metricorn
