Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve shown you how to package gifts in pyramidal fashion and how to upcycle regular materials around the house for a more traditional rectangular look. But what about those bottles of wine, champagne or sparkling cider for your holiday party hosts? Is there a creative way to wrap those? Of course there is!
Materials:
- Bottle
- Plastic wrap
- Tissue paper
- Confetti or glitter
- Masking tape
- Ribbon or tie (we used tie from KNOT & BOW)
Directions:
1. Wrap bottle in tissue paper.
2. Lay out long rectangle of plastic wrap.
3. Sprinkle glitter or confetti on 1/2 of the sheet.
4. Lay the bottle down and tape one side of the sheet to the bottle.
5. Tightly roll the bottle in the plastic wrap, tape the end down.
6. Tie a bow around neck of bottle.
Thanks for tuning in with Virginia Kralvejic and Abby Walton. We hope you have a wonderful holiday!

I love this! What a great idea...I was thinking that if you added some flowers or tree sprigs with tiny stars tied to them that would make a great center piece for the tables too! Nice thanks!

how stupid are you? wrapping a bottle or anything else is not cute nor funny. it can be dangerous to animals. I hope your glittery xmas sucks!

It looks nice and all, but I for one would not relish the thought of picking little pieces of confetti or glitter out of the carpet until next Christmas if someone chose to give one of these to me.

SmarmyPantsHippo says:
I suppose it's okay as long as somebody else has to clean up all that glitter and you don't expect an invite to next year's Christmas party.

greyedout says:
The glitter/confetti everywhere after you unwrap would make me cry. The stars aren't too bad, but I can't imagine doing this to someone with glitter. :( Maybe a better idea would be to draw a beautiful design on the tissue paper instead?

A bottle wrapped in saran wrap just seems a little bit tacky to me, especially when you could do something with the tissue, like stamp/paint/print.

Oh darn! I was hoping it would be a literal "confetti bomb".

This is such a great idea. It's super creative and interesting as well as something i've never seen before. As far as picking up confetti pieces, I'm pretty sure you're not giving the wine to a toddler. Totally into Abby's projects!!

This is so cute! When I clicked it, I thought they were going to be instructions for making an actual exploding thing that fills the air with confetti. Oh well, this is a cool idea too. :)

Anyone who couldn't figure out how to do something like this without instructions must not have gone to kindergarten or first grade. I guess that helps explain the current state of education (or lack of) in America.

Blinkett says:
@Aria I think it is just for the idea... which many people might not have even thought of. I do like how the glitter pieces wont come off in your hands or end up all over the place. My least favorite thing about glitter.

saran wrap? seriously? i'm with the people who say it's a BIT on the tacky side. This would look acceptable with thicker and stiffer cellophane. Still, it's the third video in a series and i'm still asking myself "Why do a video tutorial on something so simple and cheap-looking? Isn't etsy a site for grown-up, CRAFTY people? I'm sure many of the users can, and would like to make something a little more complicated but genuinely pretty and tidy.

WOW - thanks Abby for this cute project ! I already had all these things at my house - Bonus ! opened it up with NO MESS - The glitter sticks to the saran wrap!! ( I happen to have green saran and gold music note glitter) my girlfriend thought it was so cute she saved the wrap for another bottle.

HeatherLucille says:
I am going to try this idea with acetate (a little more sophisticated than the saran wrap) and pine needles. I hope it will smell and look lovely! Thank you for the idea! Note: I was thinking this was going to be an exploding glitter bomb too! That would be perfect for New Year's Eve!
