The hoarder doll house is great with a story that is all too true for many people. My mother lived in the same house for over 50 years. It took many weeks to clear it out so it could be sold, and she could move into a senior citizens apartment complex that was sponsered by HUD and several churches. The apartment was only about 500 square feet. I had learned a lot from watching about hoarders on TV. We made different piles: keep, donate, trash, and storage. I know that in her situation, hoarding was a trait from growing up in the depression, you keep EVERTHING! Glass jars, coat hangers, egg cartons, etc, etc, etc. And when you finally had extra money for things, you started collections. China, glass,dolls,doll furniture, doll houses, fabric, quilting books and supplies, the list goes on. She was very artistic and taught me how to sew, crochet, quilt, and many other crafts. I too, have ended up with a house full of stuff! If you have ever visited my shop, you will notice that I am slow to list things because I am trying to let go of a lot of stuff, while training two miniature dachshund puppies! If you know someone who is a hoarder, I pray that you will have the kindness and patience to help them.

The hoarder dollhouse is a hoot. I loved reading about Maybelline's story. I record that show and watch it when I can't sleep sometimes at night. I guess I knew there were people who had a hard time getting rid of stuff as my sis seems to have emotional attachments to so many of her items growing up and things people have given her even when she doesn't really need them, but it is just a storage issue with her and her house looks normal. But I feel for the people on that show that have this disorder. They literally save trash and dangerous stuff and seem to be overwhelmed with decision making. Glad there are people out there that can help them. It seems a disorder that is very tough on the family members just like someone with an addiction. Very sad!

I took an old doll from a junk store once and burnt it, put an eye in crooked, and made a Halloween party around it, based on a story I made up about a girl dying in a fire and someone finding the doll, and the doll is now haunted with her spirit, and we will have it at the party, etc etc. It was pretty fun and easy and cheap!
