Noted: The Laundromat Project

Even though my neighborhood laundromat is only a couple blocks away from my apartment, instead of heading back for some typical Internet procrastinating between loads, I seize the opportunity to people-watch, write in my notebook, and explore the nooks of the adjacent 99-cent store. In our rush from work to errands to more errands back to work, it can be difficult to carve out time for creativity, particularly in communities that lack resources and opportunities. The Laundromat Project is a non-profit that’s bringing art supplies to where people are already gathering. Encouraging locals to express themselves as they wait to move their sheets into the dryer is just so perfectly practical and aspirational.

How do you see creative innovation serving your community?
