On Thursday, December 1, Etsy joined with West Elm to host a very special handmade holiday event in each of their 37 store locations. To complement a mini-market of Etsy sellers, each location offered a hands-on craft with beautiful paper ornaments, colorful stamps, and pretty pens. Behind each craft table was a supportive Etsy Team, like the 5 Boroughs Team, pictured above, to help with the project steps and encourage attendees’ individual creativity.
We are so honored and thankful for the help of local teams on this special night, as well as their continued dedication to their communities. The craft and entire event was a hit, but you don’t have to take our word for it — just check out the blog posts and photos from the fantastic teams involved!

Members of The Vintage Etsy Society and The Chicago Style Crafters
“Etsy and West Elm also held a handmade workshop for making origami ornaments, led by the talented ladies from Crown Town Handmade and Queen City Crafters. All the handmade ornaments turned out wonderfully and looked perfect on the tree, which was donated to Elon Homes and Schools for Children.” — Melongings

The NewNew Etsy Team in Chelsea
“We decorated a tree for the Bethesda Project, a nonprofit that serves the chronically homeless. The event had a tremendous turnout, and it was so exciting to see each ornament form, knowing that the tree would be so much more beautiful with each addition. We hope that the folks at the Bethesda Project love it as much as we do.” — HandmadePhilly
“We had a blast! So many people had a great time putting these ornaments together, and folding them made them smile!” — North Florida Craft Revolution
“All in all, it was a great event, and I think everyone left with smiles on their faces and a bit of ink on their hands. Can’t wait to meet more of our local artists and crafters at the next event!” — Etsy Artisans of San Diego
“We were so excited to be able to bring crafting to a group of new people.” — Handmade Miami
“This is a reminder for everyone: go out and do something new! It’s the holiday season; find an event, donate to a charity, support your local artists, and make something, even if you don’t consider yourself creative!” — East Bay Arts Collective
Also involved were members of Central Florida Etsians, OakPark, Crafty Burrito, Sac Etsy, Artisans of the Cali Coast, Denver Handmade Alliance, HandmadeMN, Etsy NJ in Princeton and Paramus, Handmade in Vegas, Etsy Team Columbus, Handmade Philly, Puerto Rico Etsy Team, Music City Makers, Austin Craft Riot, HTownEtsy, Capitol Region Etsy Street Team, MakeShopLive, and etsyRAIN.
If you missed the event, you can still get in on the crafting fun by downloading the ornament PDF and following the instructions in this blog post.

This kind of teamwork is such a wonderful thing. Gathering together to discuss ideas, work on projects or just to lend a supportive ear makes the world a better place.

It was really fun! I love talking to people locally, especially those that have bought from me on etsy. It's great to hear when someone really loves something you've made, and even better to hear it in person.
