Oh glorious spring! How fabulous you are with your chirpy birds, babbling brooks and the promise of great newness and change to come. For just such a festive occasion, this collection celebrates the egg, an iconic springtime symbol of renewal and optimism.
For many of us, the egg is also a staple of the breakfast table. Yet there are very few ways to display the elegance of an egg without it rolling out from under your hands. That’s where the egg cup comes into play!

Who are you?
I’m Helen Foers of Storeyshop.
What are you collecting?
Egg cups.
When did you start?
A few years ago.
How many do you have?
30 so far!
Where do you find them?
Vintage and junks shops, charity shops, car boot sales and in wrapping paper as my friends and family have started giving them to me for birthdays and bringing them back from holidays!

Where do you keep them?
In the kitchen cupboards, much to my husband’s annoyance. I have two decks of them stacked on and under vintage cake stands.
What’s an interesting story behind one?
Only one egg cup in my collection is my husband’s. He had it when he was little. It’s one of the ones with legs. I had one with legs when I was young too so we got them together and they’re now a couple.
What piece would you like to add?
Next on my list is one of Heidi Burton’s illustrated egg cups. I’d also like to find more with names and other typography.
Why do you love them?
I love boiled eggs and I love collecting. Perfect!

Which one is your favourite and why?
My pink plastic one with my name on it. I’ve had it as long as I can remember. My little brother had a blue one with his name on it, too. Maybe it’s where my love of personalised products stems from!
What else do you collect?
Other ceramics and chinaware. I have rather a lot of plates and saucers. Choosing which plate and egg cup combo to go for when having a boiled egg is always a tough one!

Helen’s incredible personalised hand cut paper works will add an artistic touch to all of your daily celebrations. Her custom made cards are brilliant and beautiful (I’ve given many away to loved ones as cherished gifts!). So hop on over and visit her beautiful shop and blog.
What do you collect? What makes a great collection? Please tell us in the comments below.
I’m Kristal Davis (a.k.a. rikrak) and I just love seeing what folks are collecting. I feel it tells us a little bit about what inspires them. The Collectors series, first published on my own little blog is 11 and a half quick questions with a wonderful artist on what they’re collecting — apart from their art supplies!

What a fun collection! I collect far too many things... anything classic peter rabbit, and carousel horses (which is actually growing into really anything with a classic carnival feel). Those are things I've collected ever since I was little. As an adult I've started a few collections as well, my favorites right now are giraffes and vintage typography (old signs, letterpress letters, etc). See... too many collections! haha

Am SO jealous. It's not easy to pimp an egg cup collection here in the States. My English grandparents ate soft-boiled eggs for breakfast nearly every day (or at least every day their granddaughter was visiting). I love soft-boiled eggs and I love egg cups so! Thanks so much for sharing. I'm inspired - not going to give up!

My grandpa had a soft boiled egg for an egg cup every morning. He would crack the shell then peel of the top shell of the egg, next he would eat the top of the egg with a spoon while also dipping his toast in the yolk. I have one egg cup that was his. I collect vintage (1950+) drinking glasses and use them.

Hi there, I collect egg cups! Have been for a bout twenty years or so and have just over 400 now! They are perfect as souvenirs from wherever you go......and people love giving them as gifts! I have a cabinet with the special ones and a shelf that goes round the entire dining room, (high up!) that is two deep of cups! I am so glad someone else collects them! It's fun. You're right "shop domestica" ...they are hard to come by in The States! kathryn
