Here at the Etsy Labs, you’ll often find us poised over our Vandercook press, printing our happy hearts away. The entire office has taken turns cranking out cards and coasters, and now’s your chance to experience the satisfaction of holding a card, hot off the press. To kick off the newly redesigned 2012 creative event series at Etsy Labs — now known as Etsy Hands-On — we are teaming up with Sesame Letterpress and getting intimate with paper crafts in the spirit of Valentine’s Day. Join us!
Come on down to the Etsy Labs on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 from 5 to 8 p.m. We will have table-top presses set up with two different designs for coasters (make a set!), and the Vandercook press will be equipped to print a folded card. After printing, enjoy drinks and treats while making your own envelopes with vintage papers and ephemera. You can also type up a love letter in Miniature Rhino’s very special letter writing booth!
Bonus: The first 25 people to check in will receive a free tote bag. We’ll also be raffling off some sweet surprises throughout the night.
As in years past, we are partnering with Citymeals-on-Wheels, an organization that provides nutritious meals to elderly New Yorkers, for the Special Delivery: Share Your Love card campaign. Hands-On: Valentines is the perfect opportunity to help spread smiles and valentines throughout the city by printing cards to donate. For more information on how you can participate in the Special Delivery program, check out this post.
If the whir of a printing press is music to your ears, be sure to RSVP! If you can’t make it, your loved one needn’t go without, browse a bounty of Valentine’s items right here on Etsy!

I want to go, but I'm from Jersey and I don't know my way around Brooklyn. I'd be driving, does anyone know if there's parking there? Or would anyone want to carpool from NJ?

THIS “PARTY” WAS TOTTALLY LAME. It was a pitch party to celebrate ETSY’s biggest day of sales to date. They made so much money they stopped hosting Craft Night. So much for the community, only a handful of the several hundred tickets were made available to the public and THEY SOLD OUT in hours. And this Double Plus Good pretence that Hands-On will be better craftier events, there wasn’t much crafting going on here- mostly standing in line to be handed an exuded item with a logo on it. No worry, as soon as ETSY runs out of people and venders to pitch I’m sure they will end Hands-On as well. ETSY’s homginised staff is too young to know what gentrification looks like, but I do, in fact I know how to spell it. ET$$zzzzzzz

If you were near and "if" you could get a ticket, a really BIG if. I was a Craft Night regular and out of several hundred guest I saw 5 people that I knew.
