I’m Sarah Moraes, and I make artisan confectioneries and sweets ranging from French macarons to candies, cookies, cakes and other pastries. I live in West Palm Beach with my lovely wife and our two beautiful dogs. Although I was born and raised in Brazil, I have been living in the United States for the past fourteen years.

My mother tells me I showed a creative streak at an early age, and over the years, I have furthered my artistic talent in many mediums. I draw, sketch, paint, sculpt, and also hold a degree in cinema and photography.

Making my sweets time consuming, but the creative process takes just as long. Anything can spark an idea for me to create something great – a childhood memory of my favorite things to eat or craving sweets that I haven’t had in a while. I even get  inspiration from my favorite films: Willy Wonka; Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon; Alice in Wonderland.

Once I figure out the flavors I will combine, it’s off to the kitchen for experimenting.  For a new sweet, I typically do a few trials until I get it just right. After I perfect the recipe, it’s time for a taste test, which I leave to my wife and mother. I strive to create flavors that are not unique just for the sake of being different, but that are genuinely delicious! When trials are successful, I do a photo shoot for the item, edit the photos and put them up.

Sweet Sarah Artisan Confectioneries has made me realize that people are more interested in trying exotic flavors than you’d think. Possibly the reason why some consumers don’t try flavors outside of the norm is because it isn’t offered to them. When flavors are offered in new and interesting ways, people are more than willing to try something they have never had before.

My business embraces a melting pot of cultures and flavors. I combine my Brazilian heritage, American inheritance, love for Asian culture, and passion for French cuisine into each and every one of my products. I am not afraid of flavors, and I love to experiment with something that I find new and exciting. Etsy is dear to me because it has created a place for imaginative and ingenious ideas to flourish. It’s a place where sellers can express their art form in a way you don’t see everyday, and for consumers to show their appreciation by making a purchase.

For me, sweets are the pinnacle of creativity. It has been the most rewarding and liberating art I have challenged myself to. I have my mother to thank for that because she was the first one who introduced me to the world of great food and sweets. It has brought us closer together; creating memorable moments and most of all making us laugh and enjoy life. I make confectioneries to share this gift with others, so they can have similar experiences with their loved ones.
