This weekend’s Get the Look Decor is inspired by the gorgeous home of vintage seller Aye. She lives in the Washington, DC area with her husband and two dogs in a neighborhood that blends city and country living. At nearby Rock Creek Park, the couple enjoy foraging for mushrooms, yet downtown DC is close at hand for strolls through museums and galleries.

Aye’s keen eye for vintage treasures is evident in her home, but her collections can also be found in her two Etsy vintage shops, Zetro and NeOld.

Describe your home decorating style.
I would say our home is ethnic-eclectic with some modern accents. I’m a believer that the elements of old and new can marry well together, and likewise, East and West. I love the clean spare lines of Japanese interiors, and I also love the cozy clutter of an English cottage home. I enjoy blending together elements of varying styles.

What is your favorite part about your home?
Mostly, we all hang out in the kitchen because I like to cook, or in the garden when the weather’s nice. During the winter months, we spend more time in the living room because the fireplace is going and the dogs love it so much. We move along with the seasons. I guess our nomadic lifestyle applies to the house also!

Where are your favorite places to shop for home items?
My husband and I travel a lot, so I tend to poke around in obscure shops and weekend markets in the various countries we visit or have lived in (mostly in Europe and Asia). In America, we have discovered some really interesting finds in thrift stores.

What inspires you when it comes to decorating?
I often find inspiration from my travels. The way people live in different parts of the world and what people choose to surround themselves with is very interesting to me. And sometimes, it’s the small things that can be inspiring: a piece of driftwood, a textile remnant – whatever catches my attention.

Does your home hold any strong memories?
The strong memories in this house are of our dogs. We have raised four spunky dogs here, and although two are gone, we still feel their presence hanging about. In this family, dogs rule!
