For this week’s video, we’re resurfacing an old favorite. Enjoy!
Muralist Maya Hayuk‘s improvised style and colorful palette have become something more than a precise painting on a wall: it’s a part of people’s lives, a living thing that people interact with and tell stories about. Last spring, Maya headed to Braddock, Pennsylvania to work with Braddock Active Arts organization. Their goal was to revitalize this once-thriving steel mill town — now just another statistic in the neglected, post-industrial landscape of America. Sixteen artists from across the globe gathered to contribute environmental artwork, which ranged from functional to inspirational. With the help of teens from the Braddock Youth Project, these artists added a little life and hope to this depressed town.
