As you might imagine, in all my time panning the internet for DIY gold suitable for the weekly How-Tuesday column, I’ve stumbled upon far more gems than there are Tuesdays in the year. So, for today’s post, I’m mixing it up a little, and sharing ten projects that I have been loving lately.
- Speaking of gems, here’s a pattern for stitching a diamond tote.
- Need a spot of green? Try making a clay planter for miniature houseplants.
- Fold a bouquet of sorbet-toned paper calla lilies.
- Dye plain old dollar store doilies to make some sunny decor.
- Revamp old sunglasses with cat-eyed style.
- Make a sweater for your chair.
- Turn holey socks into a lovable critter.
- Dip dye a totebag in an ombré colorway.
- Paint plaid or striped notecards with watercolors.
- Add a pop of color to weary wooden spoons. (See this one too for another palette.)
What tutorials have caught your eye lately? Let us know in the comments below.

Great projects to try out, thank you! We seem to have an endless supply of holey socks so I'll be able to make stacks of lovable critters - though they'll mostly be navy blue and black, LOL!

Such cute ideas! If I had known about that holey sock project sooner I would have been saving them to use. My socks don't seem to be getting holes as much as they used to. But I have thrown away at least 2 socks this past year due to holes. Cute and fun idea, will have to tell my roommates. They are starting a daycare and are recycling A LOT of things to use later for craft projects, including paper, toilet paper rolls, cans, egg cartons, etc. It seems as though they will have an endless supply of recycled projects to use, now adding holey socks to the list. Thanks again!

Julie, this is a cracking selection - I like the multi format. I'm using my Etsy shop to sell vintage finds, however I am eager to get crafting so I sell some stuff that I make - I can't wait, but it seems to be taking for ever, I may have to rethink the plan and get craft whilst selling my stuff on Etsy rather than the other way round :) It's so good to talk it out - you find your own solutions................ thanks for that Julie

These projects look fantastic! It's funny how, when you live a creative life, sometimes you just don't have the time to try out new things. I really wish we had more time to make sock puppets and chair sweaters. It's we creative types who really appreciate these things and that's part of the reason there's never enough time to try everything out ourselves!
