With Father’s Day just two weeks away, the time is now to start dreaming up ways to celebrate your dear ol’ dad. For this week’s installation of How-Tuesday, I have gathered up 10 DIY projects from across the web, designed to help you make a winning gift in honor of your father.
- Make a tetrahedral kite to fly on a sunny day outdoors.
- Stitch a rolled hem pocket square with fabric in your dad’s favorite color.
- Design fabric with newspaper clippings to sew into a custom tie.
- Collect your favorite family photos into a DIY photo album made from a vintage book.
- Cook up a clock make from forks and spoons.
- Concoct a picnic-worthy soda for your pop.
- Fold and snip a pop-up card with a landscape setting or a space invader theme.
- Make a pair of handmade suspenders in a snap.
- Bind a book using materials you might just have on hand already.
- Sew a simple vinyl wallet, and slip in a nice note.
What are your favorite Father’s Day DIY gift ideas? Let us know in the comments below.

Cute, I like the suspender idea although I don't think my dad would wear them, haha. Maybe I will make some soda for him instead. Thanks!

Anyone else get a good chuckle at the suspender model who is wearing suspenders and a belt? These are great ideas, and not just for Father's Day!

Several years ago our kids made heart-shaped stepping stones (from a craft store kit) for Dad that we use in our garden. The stones are decorated with mosaics and the kids' handprints. It's amazing to see how much the kids have grown when they compare their hands now, and Dad still loves his gifts. :)

I like to make all sorts of things for my Father. I have made a tie in the past (use a cheap tie as a pattern) also tie clips. I love making heartfelt things that cost too much to buy itself. That being said, my Father loves DVD's, so...

When my girls were about 1 and 3 years old, we decorated a canvas hammock pillow with their hand prints. Next to each painted hand print, I wrote a "thank you" from the girls. "Thank you for reading to me" "Thank you for pushing me on the swing" etc. That was about 14 years ago, and he still uses that pillow on the hammock.
