Meg and I do not like attention. After nine years of dating, we decided to get married in spite of the number of eyes that would be gawking at us. “How can we do this for us?” we asked each other. We settled on the idea of two celebrations — a ceremony in the woods for our closest relatives, and a party in our hometown for everyone we love.
We wanted the ceremony to be as small as we could imagine. Only our immediate family was allowed — and no press! We wanted it to be quaint, and being tucked away in the woods was incredibly important to us. Luckily, we were able to find a sustainable building set in the Minnesota countryside on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi river.
