Do you remember celebrating May Day as a child? I don’t know about you, but growing up in Iowa, we’d pull together tiny baskets of candy and flowers — usually hastily picked dandelions from the backyard — and leave them on friends’ and neighbors’ doorsteps. I hadn’t thought about the tradition in years until a friend received a beautiful bouquet from her father as a May Day treat. Now I’m wishing my desk was directly adjacent to a lilac…or that someone would send me a lilac bouquet!
But beyond our love for flowers, this month my fellow editors and I are excited to try something new. Along with all of our usual stories about Etsy artists, food, shopping, and how-to’s, we’re focusing on marbling. It’s a trend we’ve been noticing everywhere, and we’re so excited to explore it through an Etsy lens. From the allure of handmade glass marbles (and the collectors who love them), to the intoxicating beauty of Nemadji pottery, to the magic of marbling paper, to DIYs on how to marble a silk scarf or a homemade cake, we’re eager to dig into this continually evolving style.
Be sure to watch for marbling posts through the month of May, and for more of our marbled favorites, follow along on Pinterest.
