As we’ve mentioned before, we’re big on experimenting with new features here at Etsy. We monitor these experiments closely, and we get excited when one of them turns out to make a significant difference in the shopping experience. Today we get to celebrate one of our experiments graduating to prime time as we welcome the “Related Items” section to the listing page.

The listing page is the heart of Etsy, it’s the precious real estate sellers use to showcase their individual products including photos, descriptions, pricing and shop information. This is great for shoppers if they’re ready to make a purchase, but if not, they have to go back to the shop page and browse through items again. Showcasing related listings from the same shop at the bottom of the page lets shoppers easily browse other items of interest directly from the listing page.

How do we pick the related items? We take other items in the same shop section, and a shop’s featured items into consideration when selecting related items. If you are a shop owner and do not see related items in your listings, you should consider adding some shop sections and featured items to your shop!
