| We want to highlight all of the fantastic kid items available here on Etsy. So, we're holding this
here contest to find the best of the best. Entering couldn't be easier! Here's all you have to do. |

| Step 1. |
Make something for a baby, kids up to 10, or an awesome parental accessory. You
may submit one item in each of the seven categories. |
| Step 2. |
List the handmade item(s) in your Etsy shop between July 16 and August 16, 2008.

Tag your creation(s) as indicated below: |

That's it! From there our panel of experts will select a total of 280 finalists. 7 of these artists will receive The Expert Panel Award of Excellence
(or the EPAoE). Then, we leave it to you, the Etsy community, to vote for and select the next 21 winners. |

(7) Seven talented artists, one per category, will be awarded a $200 Etsy shopping spree.
Our expert panel of judges includes magazine and web editors, designers and authors knowledgeable in each specified category. A complete list of
judges will be announced soon.
They will base their decisions on:
1. Quality of craftsmanship
2. Originality of design
3. Adherence to theme and entrance categories
4. Quality of photography for entered items
Note: Only entries that follow the Handmade Kids Challenge Rules and Regulations will be considered.
- Members' Choice Winners
The Members Choice Awards are based entirely on your votes. Prizes will be awarded to the three artists receiving the most votes in each category.
(7) First Place winners will each receive a $200 Etsy shopping spree.
(7) Second Place winners will each receive a $100 Etsy shopping spree.
(7) Third Place winners will each receive a $50 Etsy shopping spree.
One first, second and third prize winner will be chosen in each category by eligible members of the Etsy community. See details below for voting eligibility

From August 25 through September 8, 2008, vote for your 7 favorite items in the Handmade Kids Challenge. Your vote is your entry in the
sweepstakes. More details on voting will be announced when the 280 finalists have been selected.

Q: Why is this contest only open to US residents?
A: The short answer is, there is no short answer. We wish we could include everyone from the Etsy community, but at this time, it's just not feasible. For
the longer answer read Sarah's article here.
Q: Do I have to have an Etsy shop to enter the Handmade Kids Challenge?
A: No, but you must be a registered Etsy member. Rather than list an item in an Etsy shop, it is possible to snail-mail your entry. See official Rules and
Regulations for details.
Q: If I have more than one shop, can I enter items under multiple usernames?
A: No, you may not enter more than one item per category, even if you have more than one username.
Q: Can I enter a vintage item or a supply into the contest?
A: No, this challenge is just for handmade items.
Q: What kind of design should I come up with?
A: Anything you want that is handmade and fits the item category guidelines listed above. Of course, it should be safe for its intended user.
Q: Can I enter something that is already listed in my shop?
A: Yes, just make sure to add the special contest tag to your item at some point during the entry period.
Q: Can I enter items in multiple categories?
A: Yes, you may enter one item in each of the seven categories. However a single item cannot be entered in more than one category.
Q: What if my item sells or expires before the voting period?
A: Not to worry, if your item was tagged correctly during the specified contest entrance period, we can find it and make sure it is considered for the
challenge.
Q: If I have multiple usernames, can I use all of them to vote?
A: No, individuals are limited to one vote each.
Q: Can I vote for my own entries during the voting period?
A: Yes, by all means!
Q: Can I win more than one prize?
A: Yes, you could potentially win in each category that you enter.
Q: Who are these "expert judges"?
A: The "expert judges" for the "The Expert Panel Awards of Excellence" will be chosen based on their relevance to and knowledge of the category they
will be covering. A list of judges and their affiliated associations will be announced at the start of the voting period.
Q: Should I keep high-resolution images of the item(s) I enter?
A: Yes, this is a good practice in general. We'll be hyping up the Handmade Kids Challenge contest to lots of outside media and you may be contacted
for possible editorial feature. |
