1AEON cult is Gabe Molnar (creative department) & Leola
Olivarez (technical/legal/paperwork).
Also a big shout out to Sarah and Maria (and everyone ever modeled
for us)!
We work and live in Brooklyn,NY.
Gabe: i was born in Budapest, Hungary 1976. I use to play guitar.
After quitting my noisy metalcore band, i moved to the US. The place
where i knew i could express myself a lot more on many different
levels. Besides, i wrote the music , did the artwork and took care of
the merch. All i wanted to do is create. To leave something behind,
and i still do. My teacher in elementary school was gonna send my to
art school, but it never happened. I never learned art. I do believe
(just like in music) it's either in you or not.
In 1AEON i do the designing, silk screening, website, etsy,
myspace, blog.
I started 3 and a half years ago, with the motive: give 100%,
without the upper hand, and make something from the heart, not
something that could bring me success.
Leola was born in Virginia Beach in 1979. She Loves art too but she
is the one with the sense of Fashion. We share ideas a lot and at the
end give birth to something that we both thinks is edgy and a bit
dangeuros.
What is the first thing you can
remember making
by hand? How and why did you make it?
I would draw on everything from a very eary age on anything that
has a flat surface like the bottom of my chair, table or bed. Then I
switched to paper and i also did a lot of paintings too. I remember
painting a big eye on my sweatshirts. Leola was also always an
artist.
What inspires you? Where do your
ideas come
from?
I use my dreams to create compositions, since t-shirt is all im
thinking about all day.It took over my dreams too. Sometimes i would
have daydreams, (visions), It's funny in sometimes i would wake up
knowing what will i do next.
I also love history and nature as Hungary has a beautiful wildlife
and we took out part in the history as well (The nomad tribes,Attila
the hun, also mongols,turks took over the country or later the
Austria-Hungary times,nazis,communism..etc)
What are your favorite materials? A Squegee a screen or anything wooden. I burn my own screens. I
also love ink/paint. from childhood memories i remember loving the
dust from the side of the road a lot, kindergarden i even washed my
hand with sand when it got sticky from the lollpop..haha, and you
know whats funny? It sort of worked.
What is your favorite color?

What are your most and least two
favorite films?
Most favorite: Frailty (dir. Bill Paxton) and anything that
DeNiro, Scorsese or David Linch has something to do with it. I Also
watch a lots os biographies or documentaries. Can i just go with two
more instead of the least fav. one?..Oh man, it's hard to pick... i
also love "Walk the line" and "Mysctic River" or
In the bedroom.
What are you reading right now?
I barely have time to read just because i often work 14-16 hour
days, the last one i read was the Jenna Jamesson biography
cofessions..pretty sad and also fascinating. Otherwise, i just grab
some metal mag to kill time on the train.
Any tips on selling handmade stuff?
Since you make it - make it yours..don't do anything just because
it "sells". Belive what you do, and try to be the best in
your category. Aim high. It doesn't matter what everybody says, if
you try the very best you can do and you belive in it, it will carry
your positive energy and people will love them.
Apart from creating things, what do
you do?
That's all i do. I wake up, i work and go to sleep. I can't
imagine any other way. Not right now. I really want to have a family
later so gotta do it now, while i can.
How can Etsy be improved? Any
feature requests?
Etsy is great as it is and im sure it will be even better.
Sometimes i wish to have music going on while people brows the 1AEON
store..makes more sence..especially the ones im listening to while
printing..actually i should list one song for every item ....and
everybody should too...haha.. all you have to do is get all the music
in the world to make sure you have the one you need..
