This piece of cherry has been finshed by the artist to bring out all the natural beauty of the grain and coloration of the wood. For me, the special appeal of the work lies in its design. The bowl has been turned with just the right proportions so that the beauty of the wood can be seen from various perspectives and viewing angles. This proportionality involves the height and slope of the outer wall of the bowl, the diameter and depth of the inner bowl, and the placement and sizing of the bowl's delicate, slightly concave edge. The bowl can be viewed straight-on at eye level, and the outer wall shows the full range and depth of the wood's grain. From this perpective, it is clear that the rim of the bowl, which is tapered at the outer edge, does not interfere with the ability to view parts of the inner bowl. Finally, the overall height of the bowl makes it easy to look directly into the inner bowl, where the grain runs across the entire diameter of the bowl and climbs the sides of the inner bowl back to the edging. This type of proportional turning is quite an accomplishment in my view. |

Haven't tried it out yet, but it's been the fastest delivery on an item ordered from anywhere yet! I was very pleasantly surprised especially since it was a UK->Canada ship (like 3 days or something) AMAZING!
