DISCLAIMER: This is not a whingy, poor me I have no sales thread. Simply a discussion on whether Etsy has turned out like you had hoped or not.
So, I have been here almost 6 months and had a few sales. I am going to stick it out until Xmas but after that I think I'll let the shop die a natural death lol!
I think my items are unique enough, well priced, my shop is nicely set out and I have done all the things 'they' say you need to do ie blog, myspace, street teams, chat, promotions etc but all this time and energy is not yielding the results I had hoped.
Jewellery is SUCH a competitive category and there is so much talent here is difficult to stand out. I am realistic enough to know if my efforts are not paying off to move on gracefully kwim?
Anyway, Im interested in hearing from anyone else whos thinking along the same lines.
Oh and Im not bitter at all, I do well at markets and parties and I love Etsy, I will still be buying here thats for sure :P |

I can only imagine the difficulties in selling jewelry here... so many sellers, you just get swamped!
Etsy has actually worked out better than I expected - I started selling here after setting up my Dawanda store, and no comparison... I would prefer selling on Dawanda (underdog and German), but I love shipping to the States. :) |

Jewelry would be tough! I am not a jewelry girl and don't even look at shops that sell it. But there are tons of talented one of a kind high quality jewelry crafters on etsy.
It has worked for me. I came from FEEBAY and am so glad I have found this site! |

I think everyone has to find what works for them. Etsy may not be the right venue for you. (Although yay for still shopping here! ; )
Personally, I've been happy with my level of sales on Etsy for the most part. If my etsy shop really took off, it would be very difficult for me to manage. |

I have had to spread out to different venues but I think in general sales in U.S. are done in all retail venues. |

yes, jewelry is very crowded... I only keep my jewelry shop open because my mom wants me to actually :) I have tons of beads sitting around, and I'll probably just make items for myself! |
