I am always wondering how easily everyone is exasperated at the search. Which actually works just fine.

It just happens to work differently than Google search.

It's kind of unfair to proclaim something broken just because it doesn't work like something else. Kinda like saying that iPod's touch wheel is broken, because it doesn't use buttons. Nothing wrong with being different.

When using the search tips that are posted next to results, using the search is actually rather simple and effective:

• Use two or more words to find exactly what you want
• Use the word NOT to exclude items from your search

Now I admit that sometimes, I will be missing items - stuff that should show up doesn't show up. Which is due to some sellers not using all relevant tags.

And sometimes stuff shows up that I really didn't want. Again, this is due to sellers mis-tagging.

Seriously, give it a try - it only takes some practice and you will find anything you need... I do! :)

I totally agree. If I do a search and end up with too much stuff, or unrelated stuff, it's pretty easy to just add an extra search term or exclude something, and then I can easily browse what's left. I've always had good luck with the search here!

BROWSING has many more "problems" than SEARCHING. but i figure that's the price you pay for unfocused shopping in the first place!

Amen!
I read a lot of complaints daily on the forums, about things 'not working', while they are working just fine. People expect things to work in a certain way, and when they don't work the way they expected them to work, they call them 'broken'.
Think outside the box! Try to understand the system instead of begging that the system be changed.
Just my two cents.

That's fine for those in the know...CUSTOMERS first time expieriences aren't like that...It needs to function how people expect a Search feature to function...and by having to type NOT isn't how I expect it to function for people that I send here to shop...

MY opinion..and entitled to it...
