I do think they're blocking all images from Etsy, at least that's what I understood from last night's thread. |

I think until they can get this all worked out. It would be cool if sellers had a choice... like a "Let Polyvore use my images... yes/no" button. Then it would be all official if you gave your permission. |

the ones who dont want their stuff on any sites...they could do like everyone else, look for their 'infringements' and have them removed...instead now, their actions have impacted MY business and anyone who wants to turn this to their advantage...
nice.... |

I don't see a any kind of difference from this Polyvore site and other style sites like style hive or tons like it.Im really happy when people put my stuff on there sites its just more exposure. If you do searches on lots of etsy artists you will find there art all over the web. I think its a great thing! Its part of promoting your work.I didn't really understand all of the anger over this one little site. |

They did block Etsy uploads while they get it sorted out. Hopefully they'll turn it back on for people who *want* their pictures uploaded there.
But, don't blame the people who complained to Polyvore. Blocking all uploads from Etsy for now was a decision that Polyvore made on their own. |

Matteart, I was of the same opinion before I started really looking into it. I've since revised my opinion. The problem is NOT the idea of promotion, or Wist-type, style hive-type lists.
Polyvore does not ensure that all the items link to the shop. Many link merely to the images.etsy.com page, from which it is impossible to find the original shop. In addition, for many people the biggest problem is that Polyvore's purpose is collaging together images from elsewhere. For graphic artists, this can be devastating, seeing their creations munged up, made unrecognizable, defaced, or even in a creation they consider offensive. That collage and image-alteration, coupled with the lack of actual useful links, are the reasons this has been such a much bigger deal that Style Hive or Wists. |

I can just imagine all the teenage girls sobbing over their Spaghetti - O's tonite because their collages of "kewl" things are ruined...just ruined... |

Stylehive ensures that any item you add to the hive is also linked to the shop where it's available. Polyvore allows the user to simply clip an image to create collages with without linking to where the image comes from. In that instance, it serves *no* promotional purpose.
I don't sell art but I could understand why people were *really* upset about this. |
