★ Where Do You Market Your Items? Any Results? ★

I know there are many posts about places to advertise, but where (or how) do you market your items (i.e. buy ad space, blog, craigslist, ebay, etc)? What has been most successful for you so far, and how would you rank/rate them?

i haven't really approached it that scientifically.

i have gotten the most sales when i work really hard at promoting myself within the forums and on my blog. i am learning how to use flickr.

i don't ebay, craigslist or buy ad space. i do carry my own products everywhere i go and if anyone comments on it, i had them a business or moo card.

Okay, spam but I wrote out piece on my blog about places to buy advertising and ways to find it. Anyhow, if any of you are interested the info is here http://littleput.typepad.com/me/2007/12/tip-5-getting-v.html

I spent close to $1300 last year on advertising off Etsy. None this year but I am sure I will as the holiday buzz wears off.

There are loads of sites to advertise which dont cost any money. Talentdatabase, designstolove, craftjuice to name three.

I market/advertise on:

~ Etsy (duh)
~ My own website
~ Ebay (here and there, mostly not much anymore, but did fairly okay. just too high maintenance)
~ Paid advertisement in PolymerCAFE Magazine
~ through involvement in polymer clay and local craft forums and groups
~ Email communication...through Constant Contact
~ Business cards, handed out and left in coffee shops, etc
~ by mouth
~ Sometimes bloggers mention or advertise my work, which is awesome.

At the very moment, I'm just doing alot of relisting. Sometimes it works wonderful, but sometimes it doesn't :)

I haven't done any paid advertising yet, but that's one of my goals for this year. Thanks for the link, littleput! I'm interested to see what ideas and experiences others have had with paid advertising. And btw, whatever you're doing must be working: I see ads for littleput all over Google--in my Gmail, even! =)

Here's what I do (outside of Etsy):
- Blog
- MySpace
- My own website (in the works)
- Flickr
- Wear my own products & carry biz cards always
- Facebook (a little)
- Word of mouth
- Mailing list (working on it)
- Participate in other marketplaces such as Poppytalk
