Etsy, do you wanna be Craftster or a handmade (and others) Sales site?

You can't be both.
Teaching workshops for what other sellers sell indicates you want to be Craftster. No problem with that, but WHY would any of us want to use you as a venue if you teach what we do and try to live selling to thousands of others?
Just curious here, because why should I (for example) list my jewelry here if you will teach all the potential buyers how to make them themselves?
(I love Etsy as a venue - - I am not keen on Etsy creating more competition for its sellers)....

"And again, if the sessions are not well attended and people leave early, what is the purpose of continuing to expend time and effort in those sessions?"
Dare I hazzard a guess?

Hah! Spelling seems to be a 'hazard' for me today . . .

wow, I don't think I would like it much if someone was micro-managing my business.
I provide a service, and if you don't like the way I provide that service, I don't expect you will do business with me. You can tell me til you're blue in the face what my priorities ought to be, but in the end, it's MY decision.
So, let's say this discussion is about your business, with oodles of unsolicited advice. Everyone has an opinion, but little else.

I agree with what NOSSUB last said. They need experts for those classes, and they also need experts to help them make decisions in areas where the expertise seems to be lacking. Fits in with what I characterized earlier as appearing 'rinky dink".

in a way it is. We're not responding to a specific thread asking for opinions. This is a random, unsolicited thread.

I disagree, Dew. This thread is solicited by virtue of the very existence of the Ideas forum.

The ideas section is here very purposefully I'm afraid

Very interesting thread. As a new buyer on Etsy I have to say that I do not find it to be buyer friendly. There is too much rubbish for a buyer to understand - time machine etc.
If I was a seller on this site I am afraid I would feel like I was on a slot machine, pumping in my 20 cents and hoping for the jackpot.
It is Etsies right too do what they want with the site but if they do not listen to the sellers then I am sure a competitor would be happy to oblige.
