Crafty Ireland Team Go!

We're setting up the Crafty Ireland Team (All-Ireland in the rugby-sense) for people living and working in Ireland and Northern Ireland. By making a team on Etsy, we can pool resources to promote the work of members, and promote purchasing handmade in the region.

The goal of this team is to promote the work of crafts people from this area; as well as to promote the awareness of Etsy in the region. We will encourage buying handmade over mass-production, and encourage the use of local suppliers where possible.

I put in an official team-proposal... but it'll take about a week to get it set up. In the meantime...

I made a banner for the team page:

I set up a web page (with not much on it yet!)
http://craftyireland.com/

craftyirelandteam - we can use this team tag if people like?

I'd like to promote independent, semi-professional and amateur crafts people in the area. I had talked with some friends at Ravelry about it, and they thought Woo hoo! So here the ball is rolling rolling. Nothing against Avoca and the like, but it would be good to focus on the little guys too.

EVENTS
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Our initial activities during the starting-up phase in the remaining months of 2008 will be to increase the members to as many interested Etsians based in Ireland and Northern Ireland. We will strengthen ties amongst members through linking blogs, sharing information about regional events and opportunities, and discussing issues relevant to selling through Etsy based in this area. Activities will be mainly online.

Next year, 2009, we can pool resources to participate in fairs, put out press releases and promote the work of members to the general public. It would be ideal to meet sometime next year and explore possibilities of sharing spaces or tables at fairs, and promoting the work of other members through printed materials.

We can use http://craftyireland.com/ to bring together updates from members blogs and Etsy shops. It will be an aggregator, which is kinda like a feed-reader. So I won't be hosting any images or blogs on the site, just linking to and promoting yours.

This is great! Lots of people have signed up so far. Even more than when I first posted the Crafty Ireland Team proposal. It'll still be a little while before the team page is ready, I think.

Here are all the creative sellers in Ireland who have joined the team so far:

Hi Heather
Ill convo you with my details. Maybe it could be an idea to post about this thread on the EtsyIrish thread? It is a very active thread and there are a few Irish posters there who are based in Ireland who may like to look over this idea and join up. Ill put a link to this thread on the latest EtsyIrish thread.

Hello,
Just wanted to wish you all well with your new group. I'm part of the Irish Rogue Artisans Street Team. I do prints of places in Ireland, but I don't live in Ireland, I live
in Colorado.

Best of luck,

Dawn
