| Voicing concern over the New Lead Law |
|

I hope this is in the right forum. I usually don't post much, but I have been watching the threads on the new Lead law coming up and from what I am hearing/ reading it seems completely foolish.
Now I am not claiming I know 100% of the story,(maybe I am off a bit) but so far from what I gather this will adversely affect small businesses. As small businesses and shops that care about their products and those who use them I find this law very reactionary and idiotic.
Lead in children's books? Lead in children's clothing? From a discussion with my wife and a news program she just listened to it seems that Congress is trying to cover their behinds. American businesses are being penalized for certain country's who have had major recalls because of lead in their products.
I do not know if there is anything we can do to stop these but I think our voices need to be heard, I think we need to write our congress people and call them.
I hope that people will step up and let their voices be heard to the powers that be. I do not make product here on etsy for children but this adversely affects my young family as we have a baby. I also understand that this will negatively affect a lot of etsy shop owners here as well.
Got to get to work, thanks for reading my rant. Shutting my mouth now. |

Thank you for voicing your concern about this. There are many of us that are VERY concerned about this issue and are fighting as hard as we can to get things changed. |

Do a search for CPSIA here in the forums there are dozens of posts about this topic. Alot of them suggest ideas for what to do to help change this law. |

The whole law was written ridiculous, good intentions but no real thought behind it.
Me for example lead in yarn? The thing with books is way beyond ridiculous though. |

from what i understand, government doesn't want to hurt business relations with china, hence no action on them, but we get hit for that |
