Holy cow! He totally gets it. That is one of the first articles where I feel like the author completely understands our position. Thanks for sharing that, turtle! |

hopefully this can quell some fears of crafters- that even the lawmakers themselves didn't/and still do not know what they are needing to enforce.
maybe we can all just take a deep breath? maybe? hang in there everyone! |

FANTASTIC article that really gets to the root of why this law is such a problem.
I like that he pointed out that Congress has stated that they do not plan to be going after the small business owner and how it really is not about being able to break the law and get away with it, but that we WANT to comply with the law in a way that will not kill our businesses.
This paragraph *The thing is, few librarians, eBay (nasdaq: EBAY - news - people ) sellers or knitters want to be told that they're outlaws but at too small-fry a level to attract the authorities' attention. They want to be legal.*
I hope that those who think the law is not problematic can read this and understand now why we are so freaked out about Feb 10th. |

babymosesbasket. But it is not about them not being able to enforce the law. I do not want to be *okay* with breaking the law because I know the CPSIA has not got the manpower to enforce it. All it will take is a fluke of some random small business owner getting busted and some attorney general with a chip on his shoulder and someone WILL be prosecuted and made an example of.
The law needs to be re-written so that we CAN COMPLY. The fact that I *probably* will never have the law enforced upon my business is simply not good enough for me. I need to know that I am in compliance and I will NEVER be in legal trouble for running my business. I simply can not face my own conscience of knowing I am breaking the law but will most likely get away with it because the CPSIA does not have the manpower to enforce it. To think the opposite is not a smart business practice. |

HipMelon, I immediately zoned in on that paragraph as well. That's when I said, "Wow, this guy really gets it."
I think I'm going to print it out and send it to my Senators and Reps. |
